Nokia Belle Refresh released worldwide today

Just this afternoon Nokia released a significant software update to their Symbian collection of devices going by the name of Nokia Belle Refresh. This update will affect a whole batch of Nokia smartphones including the Nokia N8, Nokia E7, Nokia C7, Nokia C6-01, Nokia X7 and Nokia Oro. The Nokia E6 will also be updated later this week while the Nokia 500 is set to pop up within a few weeks from now.

Nokia's Asha series aren't going to distract buyers looking at the Lumia 900, but for bringing smartphone-style tech down to the feature phone level they're impressively cheap, flexible devices. Nokia has begun pushing out Nokia Belle to existing Symbian handset owners, bringing phones like the N8, E7 and X7 up to speed with the far-improved upgrade to the OS. Distributed via Nokia Suite - it's too large for an OTA release, Nokia says - the new platform version consists of aesthetic and functional changes, including a boost to six homescreens now with more flexible shortcuts and widgets, along with 30fps HD video recording.

White Nokia Lumia 800 hits Australia in March

Nokia will launch its Lumia 800 Windows Phone in Australia come March, with the existing black, cyan and magenta variants joined by a white model. Offered on Australian carriers Optus, Telstra, Vodafone "and all major retailers" no pricing for the Lumia 800 has been announced, but the smartphone will come complete with Nokia Drive for turn-by-turn navigation and Nokia Music for subscription-free streaming audio.

Nokia N9 now shipping

The Nokia N9 has begun shipping, the Finnish company has confirmed, with stocks of the MeeGo smartphone headed to pre-order customers and stores. Priced at €480 ($650) for the 16GB model or €560 ($759) for the 64GB version, three color versions of the N9 are on offer: blue, red or black.
