Nokia N97 Mini, plus X6 and X3 music phones announced

Nokia have announced several new devices at Nokia World, including making the Nokia N97 Mini official - complete with preloaded Lonely Planet information - as well as debuting the Nokia X6, a touchscreen device, and the Nokia X3, a Series 40 music phone.  The X6 has managed to fly beneath the radar in the run-up to Nokia World, offering a 3.2-inch touchscreen, 16:9 aspect display, direct access to Ovi Store and Facebook integration.

Orange HD Voice promises crystal-clear audio (if you have the right phone)

Orange UK has officially launched High Definition Voice, a new voice technology that claims to dramatically reduce background noise and increase audio quality.  Available only on select handsets - initially updated versions of the Nokia 5230, Nokia X6, Nokia E5 and Samsung Omnia Pro - the carrier is hoping that more manufacturers jump on board with their own compatible hardware.

Spotify Mobile for S60 released

Streaming music-on-demand service Spotify threw the radio cat among the Nokia pigeons back in September, when it announced a S60 mobile client was on the way.  It's taken a few months, but now that client has been released, bringing Spotify to more than thirty devices running the S60 OS; that's not just Nokia handsets, either, since Spotify have made the necessary tweaks to get the app running on some S60 devices from other companies, such as the Samsung Omnia HD and the Sony Ericsson Satio.

Microsoft Google Glass rival in the works

It would appear that the folks responsible for creating new and exciting products for Microsoft have found their way in to the wearables business this month as a tip arrives on a Windows-based Google Glass rival. This device would be eyewear along the lines of Google Glass, but would aim for not only a head-based unit - Microsoft is apparently looking in to all segments of the wearables universe. This unit was tipped by anonymous users close to the matter speaking with the Wall Street Journal, also cautioning the fact that this Glass rival might never make the mass market.

Android market share swells 886% year-on-year in Q2 2010; RIM and Apple trail behind

Smartphone demand is up, and the winner is Android according to market analysts Canalys.  They've been tracking US and global trends, and reckon that in Q2 2010 Android sales rose 886-percent from last year (851-percent in the US), giving them the number one market share in the US with 34-percent; they're trailed, supposedly, by RIM at 32-percent of market share and Apple at 21.7-percent.

Details of T-Mobile USA's upcoming handset launches have emerged, with TmoNews claiming to have release dates for several Android, Windows Mobile and other devices.  Perhaps of most interest is the HTC HD2, previously confirmed for T-Mobile in the Spring and now expected in March 2010; we're also curious about two new HTC Android phones, the T-Mobile myTouch Slide (which looks like it could be a QWERTY version of the HTC Magic/myTouch 3G) coming May 17th, and before that an update to the HTC myTouch 3G (described as v1.2) which throws in a 3.5mm headphone socket on February 10th.
