Nikon's new D4 has no shortage of spec sheet hyperbole, in fact the huge numbers fall over themselves: ISO 204,800 support, 51-point AF, 91k pixel color metering. However it's the 16.2-megapixel sensor that has many talking, the number - on paper at least - looking low when you can grab a cheap(er) T3i with 18-megapixels. The megapixel race has been most obvious of late in the smartphone world, but DSLRs aren't immune to the lust for bigger numbers. If anything proves how little pure megapixels matter, it's the D4. Nikon D4 official: $6k 16.2MP ISO 204,800 DSLR

Nikon has unveiled the new D4 DSLR, a full-frame 16.2-megapixel camera with a brand new FX-format CMOS sensor, capable of 10fps continuous shooting and up to ISO 204,800. Finally replacing the Nikon D3S, the D4 captures 1080/30p Full HD video and has a speed-boosted  51-point AF System; in fact, speed is the order of the day all round, with Nikon boasting the D4 is ready to shoot in around 0.012 seconds. That carries over to image processing using the EXPEED 3 engine, too, topping out at 11fps with AF/AE locked.

Nikon D4 coming in February, says cable leak

Rumors are continuing to mount for Nikon's latest DSLR monster, christened the D4. The last we heard it was going to be unveiled at the event in Hong Kong this Friday, along with a spiffy new 85mm f/1.8 lens. Now some financial press cables spotted by Nikon Rumors suggest that the camera will go on sale sometime in February. An exact date wasn't provided, but the suggested retail price is listed at a whopping $6000. THat puts the D4 in between the current D3x and D3s models. Read The Full Story

Nikon D800 DSLR reportedly leaks

Details of Nikon’s upcoming D800 DSLR have leaked, including photos of the much-anticipated 36-megapixel camera. Said to be smaller and lighter than the Nikon D700, despite offering three times the sensor resolution and a bigger display, the D800 should also deliver better video quality than the D3s according to Nikon Rumors‘ sources, offering capture options at up to 1080p/30/25/24.

Canon EOS-1D Mark IV DSLR totes 16MP, 1080p video & crazy ISO range

Canon's latest DSLR, the EOS-1D Mark IV, has emerged, and it's got the Nikon D3S firmly in its sights.  The EOS-1D Mark IV packs a 16-megapixel sensor, 45-point autofocus system, 10fps continuous shooting and 1080p Full HD video recording, together with not one but two of the company's DIGIC 4 imaging processors.  Like Nikon, too, Canon are waxing about their ISO range: the Mark IV boasts up to 102,400 ISO, though it's more usually found playing in the 100 to 12,800 bracket. Nikon D3S DSLR is new FX-format flagship

Nikon have outed their latest DSLR, the Nikon D3S, described as their FX-format flagship and packing a new CMOS 12.1-megapixel sensor.  The D3S can shoot 720p HD video at 30fps and boasts a broad 200 to 12,800 ISO range (extendable to 102,400, in fact).  LetsGoDigital have already played with it in the wild, and they're particularly impressed with the new 51-point AF system and the ability to grab screenshots from video clips as stills, all on-device.
