It's a Happy Halloween today as Google releases information on the Nexus 5, their newest in a line of devices running with their own brand of pure Android. This device works with Android 4.4 KitKat, a cross-branding effort with Nestle aimed directly at this candy-laden holiday. Nexus 5 details round-up: here on Halloween Eve

With the Nexus 5 / KitKat release nearly upon it, it's become time again to take a look at what we'll likely be seeing from Google as early as tomorrow. With Google's team-up with Nestle for the release of the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system upgrade - alongside several tips from independent sources - it only makes sense for Google to make a show of their release of "treats" tomorrow. The question then is - will anyone be invited, or will it be an online event only?

Nexus 5 details expand on shipping floor

Today several photos have appeared from a shipping facility somewhere in the world with the Google Nexus 5 ready to hit stores sooner than later. This device is appearing with a black front, a black back, and a blue box not unlike that of the recent release of the 2013 edition of the Nexus 7. In its most basic aesthetic style, that is - there's a whole world of difference on the inside of this phone.

Nexus 5 details add up: appearing in the UK and Netherlands UPDATE: and Israel

This morning the LG-made Nexus 5 appears to be showing up in-stock (or nearly in-stock) across the world. One of the several stock images appearing this morning comes from Carphone Warehouse, a carrier inside the UK that's generally got leaks such as this just as often as the rest of the leaks universe. Another leak this morning comes from a Dutch website that's contacted a local retailer and found - via pre-order information - that their stock of Nexus 5 devices will be arriving as soon as Wednesday - making way for a Halloween or November 1st launch.

Nexus 5 and 10 2013 imminent even as fakes appear

This morning the 2013 edition of the Nexus 10 seemed (at first) to appear on Google Play with specifications galore - it was quickly realized by those with keen eyes for terrible fakes that the screenshots of this occurrence were fake. In other words - Google did not mess up and list anything on Google Play - but additional clues do continue to suggest that the device may be real anyway. One of these is the suggestion by no less than Google's Vic Gundotra himself. UPDATE: Nexus 5 now appearing in the UK and Netherlands.

Nexus 4 LTE Bluetooth SIG suggests 5 is near

The LG-made Nexus 5 is right around the corner - more signs of the release of this device appear every day. Today's clue comes from the Bluetooth regulatory station showing off a Nexus 4 with 4G LTE connectivity - a device that's not existed on the market yet. This release - alongside the fact that the LG Nexus 5 has been teased more than a few times over the past few weeks - suggests a two-tiered smartphone release system for Google Play from here on out.

iPad Air vs Surface 2 vs Nexus 7: No Contest

iPad Air vs Surface 2 vs Nexus 7: No Contest

The war is on for the most sought-after tablet on the market, and the differentiation between the front-runners appears now, more than ever, to be strikingly high. What we've got from Apple is the iPad Air, a new far-smaller iteration of the same Retina display as the 4th generation unit. From Google there's the Nexus 7 (2013), a low-priced high-powered Android tablet manufactured by ASUS. Microsoft's competitor in the Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 works with Windows 8 and Windows 8 RT, making this battle a three-way fight between operating systems right off the bat.

One difference with this latest leak though, instead of looking at in-the-wild style images, we are seeing what appears to be the press renders. Specifically, the press renders for Canadian mobile carrier Telus.
