With Motorola going on the offensive with their tablet desires, we now have NEC announcing that not only will they be showing up at next year's CES, but that they'll be bringing with them quite a few toys. NEC LifeTouch dual-screen Android tablet tipped for CES 2011

NEC has announced plans to bring a dual-screen Android tablet to CES 2011. The tablet, which we've mocked up in the image below, will carry the same NEC LifeTouch branding as the company's existing single-screen LifeTouch slate, but have a pair of 7-inch touchscreens along with WiFi, Bluetooth and 3G connectivity. NEC Smartia gives Cloud Communicator tablet an expensive consumer focus

NEC's tablet plans have crossed over into their consumer line-up, with the 7-inch Cloud Communicator getting a rebrand as the NEC Smartia. Specifications for the Smartia are unchanged - you still get Android 2.1 on a WVGA resistive touchscreen, for instance - but the UI has been tweaked and there's the Andronavi app store. We have already talked a bit about the NEC LifeTouch cloud communicator Android tablet. The thing surfaced last week and looks pretty interesting. We know that the tablet runs Android 2.1 and has a 7-inch screen. NEC has already told us the thing is pen enabled and it runs a Cortex A8 CPU at 600MHz. Read The Full Story

It's been a long time since NEC promised a cloud-centric tablet - over 12 months ago, in fact - but the NEC LifeTouch is finally near. A 7-inch WVGA touchscreen slate running Android 2.1 (it's described as "pen operable" so we're guessing NEC is using a resistive touchscreen), the LifeTouch is targeted at Japanese corporate customers who will use the tablet as a mobile email, shopping, communications and systems-monitoring device.
