Motorola XFON skirts Nexus 5 rumors, pushes for cross-carrier US release

This week the fabled Motorola hero device called "X Phone" before this week has resurged in the tip lines at the Motorola XFON, complete with Qualcomm hardware compatibility with 4G LTE across all major carriers in the USA. This device has appeared several times in the recent past in both front and back hands-on photos with what appears to be a soft plastic back, a relatively large back-facing camera, and a palm-sized body. New rumors are circling around that the Motorola X-Phone may be coming around in more than 1 color... instead, it may be available in over 20 colors. These rumors come from Phone Arena's source at Motorola, and it also ties in with a recent teaser from Guy Kawasaki, an adviser to Motorola, who said, "Wouldn't it be great if you could personalize your phone like this?" when referring to Porsche's customization program.

We've heard plenty of rumors about the Motorola X-Phone, but it seems that Motorola itself just confirmed the device. Motorola has a job listing for a Senior Director of Product Management up on LinkedIn, and in the job listing, it refers to the X-Phone by name. After Phandroid spotted the listing, it seems that Motorola has made it inactive, which adds a bit more mystery to the rumors we've been hearing.

iPad vs Motorola XOOM court case tossed

A German court has tossed out a case which pitted Apple's iPad against Motorola's first Android tablet, the XOOM, noting that they were not similar enough to warrant moving the case forward. Apple was seeking to ban the sale of the Motorola XOOM throughout the European Union with this case, but all proceedings have been cut pending an appeal by the prosecution. Both companies have 30 days to appeal the verdict to a higher court, but its expected that the case will end here.

This week Verizon has announced that the Motorola XOOM will begin to recieve the official Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich upgrade and officially become the first tablet to do so on the carrier. This upgrade will boost the 10.1-inch tablet up to the newest version of Google's mobile operating system and will be the only tablet on the market with a certified Google-pushed vanilla version of Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. This upgrade brings with it a selection of new features for the tablet such as a built-in photo editor.
