Moto G Android 5.0 Lollipop update release next

The Moto G, Motorola's best selling smartphone on the low end, appears to be bringing some heat here this Autumn as the next device to get Android 5.0 Lollipop. Appearing in a Moto G (2nd Generation) Android 5.0 Lollipop Release Notes document this afternoon, it seems all but ready for full release. First is the soak test - not everyone will be getting this release immediately. Once that's done, the whole world can partake in the delicious candy update goodness that is Android 5.0 Lollipop in its entirety.

Keep your Nexus 6, I’ll stick with DROID Turbo

Keep your Nexus 6, I’ll stick with DROID Turbo

Back at the start of October, it was pretty clear - even before the Nexus 6 was released - that the Moto X was going to be my smartphone of choice. Between the two, that is. That was until I got a handle on the DROID Turbo. Motorola created three devices, one better than the next - depending on what you were looking for - but with the DROID Turbo it's become a very simple choice: do I want this display on a larger phone, or on a phone that'll fit in my pocket?

DROID Turbo Review

DROID Turbo Review

This past week and a half we've been working with the DROID Turbo non-stop. With a body that replicates the popular DROID series from last year - this time in bright red - a massive battery, and specifications that match or surpass the Moto X 2014, what's not to love? As it turns out, the DROID Turbo isn't just all about its ability to quickly charge up its own massive internal battery. The DROID Turbo brings a triple-A game in basically every other way as well.

Samsung, Motorola midrange refresh spotted in benchmarks

Samsung, Motorola midrange refresh spotted in benchmarks

A lot of attention is paid to flagship devices, but those with the most impact on end-users are often mid-range. Last year, both Motorola and Samsung focussed on the mid-range segment, as well as its ability to make an impact in emerging markets like India. Two new devices, one from each of those two companies, has been spotted in benchmark testing. Though unnamed, it seems as though both Motorola and Samsung are following up on their mid-range success last year.

Gold Moto 360 hands-on – Let’s talk smartwatch luxury

Gold Moto 360 hands-on – Let’s talk smartwatch luxury

Can a smartwatch be stylish? That's an argument set to run and run, but of the options on the market right now, a majority would probably point to the Moto 360 as the poster-child for looks, even if its Android Wear OS is still a work-in-progress. It was joined today as a range with a Champagne Gold version complete with a thinner, 18mm band, along with a range of new leather straps, so I brought my very best wrist along to try out Motorola's take on an altogether glitzier wearable.

Motorola’s Nexus 6 sales trigger angst; UK prices confirmed

Motorola’s Nexus 6 sales trigger angst; UK prices confirmed

Motorola has begun sales of the Nexus 6, while Google has confirmed pricing for the much-anticipated smartphone in the UK. Unsurprisingly, given the Android Lollipop device's relatively high cost - at least from what we're used to from a Nexus - in the US, those in the UK won't be getting a cheap phone. Meanwhile, in a move that seems destined to prompt no small amount of ire among would-be Nexus owners, Motorola is keeping its stock secrets until the very end.

Moto 360 goes gold in pre-Apple Watch luxe hunt

Moto 360 goes gold in pre-Apple Watch luxe hunt

Motorola has made its two new variants of the Moto 360 smartwatch official, adding Champagne Gold and a second Light Metal to the list of offered finishes. The Android Wear smartwatch keeps the distinctive circular display - though gives it some new watchfaces to match the casing colors - but throws in a narrower metal band than Motorola offered before. At 18mm wide, though Motorola isn't saying it directly, it's quite possible that the company is targeting would-be female wearers who may well have been dissuaded by the thicker 23mm metal bracelet previously announced.

Droid Turbo officially Moto Maxx in international release

Motorola has made it official - beyond the blurred rumors - that the DROID Turbo will be released as the Moto Maxx around the world. Outside of the United States where the device is limited to Verizon's bands, the DROID Turbo, aka the Moto Maxx, will carry largely the same specifications. Without the Verizon apps, of course, but still carrying the same Motorola collection of apps for connections to devices of all kinds. We're nearly set to review the DROID Turbo here on SlashGear as well.

T-Mobile, AT&T announce Moto 360 availability

T-Mobile, AT&T announce Moto 360 availability

You want a smartwatch, and by many accounts, the Moto 360 is the best you can get right now. Classic style and bleeding edge technology come together to form one pretty great device. You might also want to snap the Android Wear trendsetter via your carrier, but who’s going to have it? When will they carry it? The device is unavailable via Google Play right now, and unless you can get one via a store like Best Buy or via Amazon, your carrier may be the best option.
