Motorola CLIQ 2 Review

First announced back in late 2009, the Motorola CLIQ was not only the company's first attempt at an affordable Android QWERTY phone but the debut for MOTOBLUR. It's taken over a year for the true successor to emerge, the Motorola CLIQ 2, and Android, MOTOBLUR and the smartphone segment in general have undergone some significant changes in the meantime. Has Motorola done enough with the CLIQ 2 to stay competitive? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Motorola CLIQ and MOTOBLUR review

Motorola CLIQ and MOTOBLUR review

As Motorola have found over the past couple of years, it's taking an increasing amount to get geeks and gadget lovers to stand up and pay attention to a new cellphone. Right now, one sure-fire way of doing that is by launching an Android device, and so that's what the ailing mobile giant has done in the shape of the Motorola CLIQ (aka the DEXT outside of the US). Not only does the CLIQ promise to make a splash among Android handsets, it also marks the debut of Motorola's attempt to corral social networking into a mobile device. In our review we'll not only be looking at the CLIQ hardware, as Motorola's first-generation Android smartphone, but at MOTOBLUR and its potential beyond the CLIQ. Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

T-Mobile Motorola CLIQ preorders taken from October 19th

T-Mobile Motorola CLIQ preorders taken from October 19th

Back when people were desperate to get their hands on the first Android phone, the T-Mobile G1, a pre-order event seemed a reasonable way to stoke the hype.  Now that we're a few models down the line, T-Mobile USA's pre-announcement for a pre-order of the Motorola CLIQ smacks vaguely of desperation.  As of October 19th, existing customers of the carrier will be able to order a CLIQ for $199.99 with a new two-year agreement, though they won't actually get their new phone until November 2nd when it goes on sale generally.

Motorola CLIQ battery woefully inadequate warns preview

We're not cellphone manufacturers, but we can't imagine there's much more disheartening to hear reviewers suggest your latest handset "isn't ready for primetime".  Unfortunately for Motorola, that's just the conclusion the Boy Genius Report have come to in their CLIQ preview, with the handset's power-gobbling ways being the prime suspect for their dissatisfaction.

Motorola CLIQ hands-on video and first-impressions

After announcing the Motorola CLIQ with MOTOBLUR yesterday, we grabbed some hands-on time with the new Android smartphone and persuaded one of the company's demo team to give us a ten minute walkthrough of its capabilities.  There's plenty to like about this distinctive new addition to the Android stable; we didn't have as much time to play as we'd have liked, but our early impression is that the keyboard is well made, sturdy and tactile, and the capacitive display responsive and accurate.

Motorola QUENCH/CLIQ XT hands-on [Video]

Motorola weren't first out of the gate with Android, but they haven't let that stop them.  The company are now up to their eight handset running the open-source OS, with availability spread across North America, Europe and Asia, and next in line is the Motorola QUENCH with MOTOBLUR.  Set to hit T-Mobile USA as the Motorola CLIQ XT, we grabbed some hands-on time at MWC 2010 this week.
