One of the strangest break-out hits of our current generation of multi-platform games is Minecraft, a pixelated game that's headed to the PlayStation 3 this month. While the original Xbox 360 version was released all the way back in May of 2012, this 2013 PlayStation 3 release will be exactly the same, or as similar as the developers at Mojang could make it. This December 17th release also heads off the push to both the PlayStation 4 and PS Vita which will be occurring inside 2014.

This week the folks a Mojang have announced a collaboration of epic scale - the first Xbox 360 downloadable update, utilizing the Mass Effect gaming environment for a fully-boxy adventure. This update is called Minecraft Xbox 360 Edition Mass Effect Mash-Up. This game works in collaboration with Microsoft Studios, Xbox Live Arcade, and 4J Studios - and the full details of the game are not yet out on the block. What you will be able to see is a set of cinematic effects not necessarily representative of the actual final bit of gameplay - we'll see that soon enough.

Minecraft headed to PlayStation 4: Notch-gifted Golden PSOne a success

As the multi-platform gaming title Minecraft continues to expand in popularity with web browser, mobile, and console-based block-building action, today Sony announced the continuation of the title for PlayStation 4. This game will not be entirely exclusive to the console, coming in a Minecraft: Xbox One Edition from Mojang Studios with the launch of the Xbox One this holiday season, but it will have unique content. As it is with the developed-in-part-with-Microsoft Minecraft for Xbox One, so too shall the Sony-aimed Minecraft, ready for release by the time the console is out in stores: November 15th, 2013.

Xbox One launch titles reach 50 (with 19 exclusives)

Launch games hitting the market with the first appearance of Microsoft's Xbox One have just been released in a single-form confirmation from the company itself, they suggesting that it wont just be the 50 by the time the device appears this Fall. With the 50 games listed by Microsoft today, the company has suggested that a whopping 38% of them (that's 19 titles, if you're counting) will be exclusive to the console. After the success that was Minecraft, the game's developer Mojang is at it again with a new game. However, they're taking a different approach this time around. Instead of making a pixelated sandbox-world title, they're teasing what looks to be a Magic-esque game that has some really good cartoonish graphics. Scrolls, as it's called, has been given a launch date and the public beta is coming next month.

Minecraft for PC surpasses 10m in sales

Back in January, Minecraft developer Mojang announced that total sales for Minecraft reached 15 million. However, we never got to see a breakdown of sales for each platform. Today, however, it's been revealed that the PC version alone has now reached 10 million in sales, and the developer even teased a new feature coming to a future update.
