If you head over to Psychonauts current homepage, you'll find that the original is alive and well on the Mac App Store and Steam for Mac and PC, but it's not enough for future-looking gamers! Thusly upon hearing that Psychonauts' developing studio Double Fine's founder Tin Schafer was lamenting that he'd love to create a sequel but had no cash to do it, Notch from Mojang chimed in.

What's this, a game that gets 240 million logins a month that isn't actually named Farmville or World of Warcraft? And was just barely fully released this weekend? That's, drum roll please, the block-building Minecraft for you. Since the official launch of Minecraft’s 1.0 release candidate this weekend, the game has seen an astounding 4000 logins per second, and over 240 million logins every month. If you do some math, that's 240,000 logins a minute, and roughly 14 million logins an hour. Now that's what I call a popular game. And a very smart developer, Mojang.

Minecraft Made a Cool $33 Million

Minecraft was developed in 2009 by Markus “Notch” Persson, a Swedish programmer. It's a browser based 3D game with graphics on par with 1996, but that didn't stop it from becoming the underground hit throughout last year. It spread throughout the internet, garnering Persson's company around ten bucks a pop for each purchase. That's not much, but just today Minecraft's website reports 1837252 have purchased the game.
