AMD has launched a new video card, the AMD Radeon HD 7970, and performance PC specialist MAINGEAR has wasted no time in slotting it inside another beastly desktop. The MAINGEAR SHIFT and F131 each offer the new 28nm Radeon as an option, pairing it with up to Intel hexacore Core i7 3.3GHz processors and up to 32GB of DDR3 memory.

Intel Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition debuts: 5.6GHz overclock
Intel has outed its latest high-end processor, the Core i7-3960X Extreme Edition, along with a new chipset, the X79 Express, and manufacturers are already jumping all over the performance pair. Maingear has updated its SHIFT, F131 and Quantum SHIFT desktop PCs to use the Core i7-3960X chip, which runs at 3.3GHz but can be overclocked to a huge 5.6GHz thanks to it coming unlocked, as well as 3.9GHz using Intel Turbo, packs six cores and 12 threads, and has 15MB of cache. Upgraders hoping to use the new processor may be frustrated by Intel’s new LGA 2011 socket, however.
Maingear is now offering PCs with Intel Core i7 2700K CPU
Maingear has been cranking out some cool computers for a long time now aimed at the gamer and enthusiast. The company has a cool new processor that it is now offering in its line of gaming rigs from Intel. The new processor is the just announced Intel Core i7 2700k. The 2700K will be offered in the Shift and the F131 desktop machines.

If you are really into overclocking you know that heat is the enemy and if you want your rig to be fast and stable you need to move beyond air cooling. CoolIT systems and Maingear team up for better cooling

MAINGEAR overclock 2nd-gen Core i7 to 5GHz in new PC range
MAINGEAR has announced a new range of desktop PCs based on Intel's 2nd-gen Core 2011 processors, including overclocked models ramping CPU speeds up to 5GHz. The updated SHIFT, F131, VYBE and X-CUBE systems can each be outfitted with a choice of Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, and those supporting Intel's Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 can be pre-overclocked by MAINGEAR.

MAINGEAR has never exactly shied away from over-specifying its gaming PCs, but now the company is hoping to pull in some custom attention with their new Super Stock options. Available on the MAINGEAR SHIFT, the new customizations will include overclocking the Intel Core i7-980X Extreme Edition processor up to 4.5GHz, together with specifying a 3-way SLI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 array with a total of 4.5GB of GDDR5 video memory.
