Samsung Google TVs coming 2012

Samsung has reconfirmed it is working on Google TV products, with the Korean company's TV division chief confirming that the sets would be revealed at an event in 2012. TV department president Yoon Boo-keun revealed the ongoing negotiations this week, Reuters reports, as well as insisting that the Samsung Google TV products would "differ from those of competitors" in an unspecified way.

Google TV “Fishtank” program leaks Android 3.1 smart TV details

Google has been running a clandestine Google TV 2.0 "Fishtank" program since Google I/O in early May 2011, giving a small number of developers early access to beta versions of the next-gen smart TV platform. According to Geek's source, less than fifty developers have been included in the Fishtank, each receiving an Intel CE4100 reference design STB running a heavily modified version of Android 3.1 with Google TV specific adaptations.

What’s Google TV’s Key Selling Point?

At the I/O Conference this week, Google said that it will be bringing Android 3.1 to Google TV later this year. In addition, the company said that developers will finally have the SDK they need to start delivering Google TV-based applications.

For those who currently own Google TV-based devices, like the Logitech Revue, that’s good news. Right now, those folks are using a platform that, by and large, has done little to justify its price. Worst of all, for months, it seemed that Google had turned its back on the platform, allowing it to languish on store shelves.

Refreshed Google TV to miss Google IO, debut for holiday 2011?

Google TV may be faltering, but we'll have to wait longer than next week's Google IO conference in order to see the search giant's proposal for fixing it. That's the latest murmur from the rumor machine, with AllThingsD hearing from their insider sources that while Google will be holding a session for developers wanting to code TV-friendly apps at IO 2011, the actual reveal of the refreshed Google TV - and, indeed, the launch of the Android Market for Google TV - "won't be announced until sometime in the coming months."

Samsung tips massive Smart TV attack in 2012 but Google TV still MIA

2011 could well be the year of smart TV, with Samsung targeting 30- to 40-percent penetration of sets with streaming media, internet access and integration with mobile devices worldwide. According to Taipei Times, Samsung Taiwan president Moon Sung-hyun made the prediction during a Taiwan launch of a new range of LCD sets, over 90-percent of which were smart TV enabled; however, it's unclear if Samsung intends to push ahead with its own, home-grown smart TV platform, or look to a branded rival like Google TV
