In what might be a surprise move for many not following extremely closely LG's involvement in the Google TV platform, the manufacturer has been tipped this week as coming with Google TV 2.0 to the USA as soon as this weekend. A report coming from Shinhan Investment Corporation in Korea, LG will be bringing their 3D LED TV model to the states in two sizes: 47-inch and 55-inch, with prices set at or around $1600 and $2100 USD respectively in online outlets. This move is said by Shinhan to perhaps be in anticipation of an Apple TV Smart TV set release later this year.

We all know that Google TV didn't do well in the marketplace. Some of that failure wasn't necessarily Google's fault. The content most people hope to watch using the devices was blocked such as Hulu and the ability to stream content from network TV websites. That said some of the fault was certainly the fault of the hardware devices that were out there such as the Logitech Revue and the software. Google TV ditches Intel for ARM
Google TV is jumping from x86 to ARM-based chipsets, in the hope of reducing power consumption, noise and price of the set-top boxes, after the first generation of the platform failed to set the smart TV world alight. Chipset manufacturer Marvell has announced that its ARMADA 1500 HD “Foresight” SoC will be at the heart of the new Google TV STBs, an HD/3D capable chip that can simultaneously decode two 1080p streams in addition to performing SD-to-HD upscaling.
Airtight app brings Apple’s AirPlay to Google TV
A new app called Airtight has just been released to the Android Market that promises to enable your Google TV to receive content via Apple's AirPlay wireless streaming technology. This appears to be the first time that a Google device is able to receive video streams via AirPlay rather than just transmitting content to other AirPlay enabled hardware.

SlingPlayer for Logitech Revue Google TV STB officially released
Sling has released SlingPlayer for the Logitech Revue, allowing all owners of the Google TV set-top box to access its media streaming app and placeshift content locally or remotely. Announced back in July - and opened up for a closed beta at the same time - the app requires a Slingbox SOLO or Slingbox PRO-HD as well as a minimum of a 600 Kbps connection if you're content with standard definition video.

Apple is tops in the connected set-top box market
The internet connected set-top box market isn't exactly the hottest market in the tech world right now, but it is doing decently. There have been some notable failures in this market such as the Logitech Revue set-top box that was discontinued with no replacement coming after interest in the device wasn't there. Much of the issue with that product was the price for the capability offered. According to Strategy Analytics, the clear leader in the connected set-top box market is Apple.

Lenovo LeTV smart TV coming Q1 2012
Lenovo is the latest company to plan a smart TV push, with the Chinese firm announcing it plans to unveil the first "LeTV" - along with a cloud service for shared multimedia - in Q1 2012. The company declined to detail the LeTV technically, the WSJ reports, leaving questions around whether it will be another win for Google TV or instead run a home-grown OS.

Samsung Google TVs coming 2012
Samsung has reconfirmed it is working on Google TV products, with the Korean company's TV division chief confirming that the sets would be revealed at an event in 2012. TV department president Yoon Boo-keun revealed the ongoing negotiations this week, Reuters reports, as well as insisting that the Samsung Google TV products would "differ from those of competitors" in an unspecified way.
