Google Play Edition: Galaxy S 4 and HTC One Review

Google Play Edition: Galaxy S 4 and HTC One Review

They're the phones the most vocal minority demanded, pure Android on familiar Samsung and HTC hardware. They're also the phones the manufacturers refused to consider; HTC Sense and Samsung TouchWiz aren't merely window-dressing but core elements of the overall user-experience, so the argument went, and the HTC One and Samsung Galaxy S 4 wouldn't be the same without them. Now, then, with the Google Play Edition versions of both, we have the chance to see just how much that's true.

Samsung Galaxy S 4 Wireless Charging kit hands-on

This week we've gotten the opportunity to have a close-up look at both the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active and their official wireless charging kit for the original Galaxy S 4. The Charging Kit you're seeing here works with the Qi standard for wireless power pushing and has an extremely simple look to it. Should you want to use this kit for the Galaxy S 4 (complete with official backside casing replacement) or for a device like the Google Nexus 4, you're in luck: it's not half bad.

Verizon DROID coming soon: Motorola, Samsung, HTC, or LG?

If it wasn't going to happen with the HTC One, it certainly had to hit Motorola. That's what's happening this week as the infamous @DroidLanding twitter account fires back up for the first time since November of 2011. As the time spread between releases for DROID-branded devices grows long, so does the time before the next grow short: will it be Motorola, HTC, Samsung, or a brand Verizon hasn't graced with its DROID brand yet?

LG Optimus L9 II leaks: large-screened and low-powered

With their successes with the Google Nexus 4 and the Optimus G and G Pro, LG should at this point be more than ready to continue their drive into the future with more large-screened smartphone machines. Here in the spring of 2013, another device has been spotted that's not yet been made official - not here with the most recent wave of USA carrier releases, and not back at Mobile World Congress 2013 where they made their first push apparent.

This color will join the black version, not replace it, at T-Mobile locations nationwide. UPDATE: Per T-Mobile: The White Nexus 4 will be available online only, and will also be available only for a limited time - keep that in mind!
