ITG, maker of the xpPhone - putting Windows XP into a smartphone-scale chassis - has returned with the successor, the xpPhone 2, and thanks to Windows 8's new Metro homescreen it looks a whole lot more usable. ITG have launched a preorder page for their distinctive xpPhone, promising support for "the global three major 3G standards" from its integrated 3G chip.  Still unpriced, the xpPhone has a 4.8-inch 800 x 480 touchscreen, AMD processor, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth, together with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.  Unlike most smartphones, though, the xpPhone runs Windows XP. As descriptive names go, ITG's xpPhone says it all.  The 4.8-inch WVGA touchscreen slider is, as you might expect, a phone, and runs, unsurprisingly, Windows XP; it's all chugging along on an unspecified AMD mobile processor with up to 1GB of RAM, a choice of up to 64GB SSD or 120GB hard-drive, WiFi, Bluetooth and GPS.
