BBC launches improved iPlayer for Android, will steadily increase quality in 2013

The BBC has been fairly regularly updating its iPlayer for Android app, with a release having come out in October, and now another update having just been rolled out that adds new support and better image quality. Rather than just push out a new update and call it a day, however, BBC went on to state in the announcement that Android is "extremely important," and that it will be rolling out a series of regular updates to improve the player's quality and performance.

Sky+ adds BBC iPlayer for on-demand entertainment

Sky UK has added the BBC's iPlayer video-on-demand service to Sky+, the first time the VoD system has been enabled on the satellite provider's boxes. Requiring a Sky+ HD set-top box, and with content showing up in the Sky On Demand section of the DVR, the new iPlayer addition uses roughly the same interface as its browser-based version, only now no longer requires a laptop be hooked up to the TV.

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past few weeks, you likely know that Arkane's new game Dishonored launched yesterday. It launched to critical acclaim too, despite the fact that it's missing one key element that seems to be present in most modern games: multiplayer. As we slowly approach Halo 4's November 6 release date, more and more details are beginning to come out of 343 Industries. Today we were introduced to something that's going to make Halo 4's multtplayer stand out quite a bit from other games in the series: multiplayer specializations. Once players have ascended through the first 50 levels of the ranking system, they'll have the opportunity to pick from a group of 8 specializations. Once a specialization is picked, players get 10 more ranks to rise through, unlocking 9 different cosmetic bonuses along the way, and then a special armor mod once reaching level 10.
