Apple pays out up to $345 for old iPhone 4S

We mentioned in the past that Apple would pay you a rather impressive sum for used gadgets. Back in March, Apple was handing out up to $320 for iPad 2 tablets that people didn't want. With rumors widely pointing to the launch of the next-generation iPhone within the next few weeks, it's time for a lot of people to start trading in their used previous edition iPhones. Apple is now offering a nice bit of change for your used iPhone 4S.

A new video has been released by a rabid Apple fan showing off several components of what they believe will be the new iPhone 5 - or "the New iPhone" if you prefer. This device is shown compared by SmartphoneMedic to the iPhone 4S/4 casing we already know and appears to be quite similar to the supposed parts we've already seen hit the accessories market in leaked photos galore. These parts include an elongated display with the same width as its predecessor as well as a new double-sided mini dock for USB connections.

Apple takes dip after record-breaking valuation

This morning we're seeing Apple take just a bit of a dip in stock value after having yesterday broken the historical world record for market capitalization. This company has seen growth for decades after the late Steve Jobs re-joined the company and brought it back from near-bankruptcy to profitability in the late 1990's. Since then the company saw the birth of the iPod, the iPhone, the iPad, and the current blockbuster lines of MacBook and MacBook Air - and this newest boost comes from re-envisioned versions of their mobile lineup.

iPhone discounts go deep at Apple retail

iPhone discounts go deep at Apple retail

Today brings news that Apple is matching its competitors' prices on iPhones at its own retail stores, but the company doesn't want to make a big deal about it. MacRumors reports that Apple has implemented a new quiet policy that allows employees to price match on all iPhone 4S models and the iPhone 4, so if you want to buy directly from Apple but still want to get the best price possible, now is your chance. It should be noted, however, that Apple will only be price matching on sales made in-store, meaning online orders aren't eligible for the promotion.

Apple’s gross margin for iPhone sitting around 50%

Anyone who follows tech and gadget news knows that Apple doesn't like to talk about its margins on its individual devices, but thanks to a court filing recently unearthed by Reuters, we now have a better idea of what they are. According to the court filing - which includes a statement from an "Apple expert witness" - the company enjoyed a gross margin between 49 and 58 percent on the iPhone between April 2010 and March 2012. That's a ridiculously high margin, which gives us a better idea of why Apple never wants to talk about the subject.
