On May 22nd, 2009, OQO confirmed that they would be closing their doors, and that the Model 2+ would never see an official release date. A few months after that, a Model 2+ actually did show up on eBay, and it went with an extravagant price tag of $5,100. There were still days to go on that auction, too, so it could have sold for even more. But, that was supposed to be the end of it.

Viliv S10 Blade gets listed: multitouch, SSD and HSPA
Viliv's S10 Blade, the company's 10.1-inch convertible touchscreen netbook, has finally gone up for preorder. The good folk at import specialists Dynamism are listing seven SKUs of the netbook; the basic S10 Blade comes with Windows XP, a 60GB HDD and 1.6GHz Atom Z530 processor (and thus lacks OS multitouch support), but after that it's Windows 7 all round and a choice of 32GB or 64GB SSDs.

LG X300 ultra-thin packs 3G, 2GHz Atom Z550
LG have outed a new ultra-thin notebook, the LG X300, and it's seemingly using Intel's 2GHz Menlow-based Atom Z550 rather than any of the new Pine Trail chips. Measuring a scant 17.6mm thick, the X300 has an 11.6-inch display, 2GB of RAM and an SSD for storage.

Viliv S10 10hr touchscreen netbook stars in hands-on video

Earlier on today we told you about Viliv's Korean prices and specifications for their upcoming S7 convertible touchscreen UMPC; now we have word on the international versions. Sony VAIO P gets 1.6GHz 128GB SSD update for US; where’s my Z550?
After months of complaint from US would-be VAIO P buyers, Sony has apparently relented and added a new, faster processor option to their "don't call it a netbook" ultraportable. The VAIO P VGN-P698E gets Intel's 1.60GHz Intel Atom processor, likely the Z530, together with a 128GB SSD and the usual integrated Verizon EVDO Rev.A and GPS.

Sony VAIO P Atom Z550 2GHz benchmarked: fastest yet
As well as throwing WiMAX into select VAIO P models, Sony is also giving the Japanese version of their "don't call it a netbook" a processor boost. Fujitsu LOOX U gets expensive 2GHz Atom Z550 option
Fujitsu are the first to outfit a model from their ultraportable range with the Intel Atom Z550 running at 2GHz. The Fujitsu LOOX U - variously known as the LifeBook U820 and U2010 in different markets - can now be specified with the faster Atom chip; the existing 1.33GHz Z520 and 1.60GHz Z530 options remain.
