Hungry Moose Games, a game studio in Canada started by former Bioware developers, is working together with Green Throttle Games to develop a new Android-based living room game designed specifically for Green Throttle Game's Atlas controller. The title is called 9 Lives: Casey & Sphynx, and it follows a "misfit" couple, Casey the security guard and Sphynx the stray cat, who together risk their 9 lives on a puzzle-based adventure.

German court invalidates Apple’s slide-to-unlock patent

A German court has ruled that all claims for Apple's slide-to-unlock patent have been found to be invalid. The ruling was made in Germany's federal patent court, Bundespatentgericht, and is a big win for Motorola and Samsung, both companies who were affected by the patent. Apple has, in the past, used the patent in order to attack Motorola and Samsung for infringement and to seek injunction's against both companies' devices.

Rugged smartphones meant for the trailblazer and the survivalist in all of us certainly aren’t rare, but it’s not very often that we get to review one. Kyocera recently announced the Torque, a mid-range smartphone that’s encased in a thick hard plastic shell that can absorb energy when dropped. It’s also water resistant and impervious to dust, and while the average hiker could easily take advantage of the device, the company also targets it towards construction workers and even parents who have small kids that can be more than a little rough with toys. Oh, and did we mention it’s Bear Grylls-approved?
