Windows Phone 7 Facebook app usage spike suggests strong holiday sales

Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 sales may finally be seeing a stronger performance as we approach the holiday season. The number of people using Microsoft's Facebook Integration for Windows Phone 7 has shot up in the past two weeks from 1,000,000 on November 11 to 1,100,000 on November 25. According to previous calculations by the WMPU blog, this could mean a gain of over 600,000 new Windows Phone users this holiday.

This device is no Windows Phone per say, but a construct made to promote new Windows Phones on AT&T and T-Mobile and will feature different scenes throughout its lifespan such as life-size Plants vs. Zombies and live bands playing music. HTC has confirmed it will launch two new smartphones in November, one of which is expected to be the HTC Rezound aka the first Beats Audio enabled device for the US market. Speaking during the financial results call with investors today, having announced $625m profit in Q3 earlier today, HTC revealed its plans for two device launches next month, though failed to specify which platforms they would run on.

AT&T will be launching Samsung's upcoming Windows Phone 7.5 Mango handsets, the Focus S and the Focus Flash, on November 6. The carrier made the announcement today via its Facebook page, revealing that the Samsung Focus Flash will be priced at a very budget-friendly $49.99 while the Samsung Focus S will be priced at $199.99. And of course that's each with a new two-year service agreement plus a $15 minimum data plan.
