HTC Incredible S ICS update rolling out now

HTC Incredible S ICS update rolling out now

Back in May, HTC published a long list of handsets that would be receiving an update to Ice Cream Sandwich, the Incredible S includes among them. According to reports the ICS update is now rolling out for the mid-range handset of old, arriving just in time to hit HTC’s own July timeline. We imagine that the unlocked GSM version will be seeing the update first with staggered updates depending on your region and carrier.

Google Nexus lineup hits multiple partners in 2012

Google Nexus lineup hits multiple partners in 2012

The folks at Google may well be breaking its long-standing streak of working with one single partner for each new Nexus device starting this year. This tip comes from a person familiar with the matter speaking with the Wall Street Journal this week, they also noting that the seven "lead devices" they've produced in the past will not be evidence that they'll continue this strategy in the near future. This new strategy would have Google working with what we can expect would be more than just Samsung, HTC, and Motorola for their next software release code-named "Jellybean" in the latter half of 2012.

HTC Incredible 4G shot with ICS and elite upgrades

The next generation in one of HTC's best-selling lines of devices has appeared in several photos today complete with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and HTC's own Sense 4.0 inside. This device is set to replace the HTC Incredible 2 which we've reviewed and adore so well and will have not only a dual-core processor and Verizon's 4G LTE connectivity, it'll have many of the same perks the HTC One series has as revealed earlier this month in our HTC One S and One X reviews. This device will likely be running the Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor and comes with red Beats logos and flares like you've come to expect from HTC devices.

HTC DROID Incredible 4G spotted at FCC

HTC DROID Incredible 4G spotted at FCC

The FCC has released documents leading mobile sleuths to ponder the next Verizon HTC release in a DROID Incredible with 4G LTE. This device would be the next in a line of ultra-successful DROID-branded HTC units last seen in the HTC Incredible 2 and used by none other than your humble narrator and Android Community's Cory Gunther as we traversed the landscape at last month's MWC 2012 in Barcelona. This newest device has a slightly different set of connectivity bands available but will likely bump up the masses to the new generation with its dual-core processor and AMOLED display.

Verizon HTC Rhyme official

Verizon HTC Rhyme official

The HTC Rhyme has been officially unveiled, Verizon's latest Android smartphone, headed to the CDMA carrier on September 22. A midrange device with a somewhat more feminine twist than we've seen from recent Verizon DROID phones, the Rhyme's real draw is not so much the phone itself - a relatively mundane 1GHz single-core handset with a 5-megapixel camera, finished in a metallic plum - but the accessories, including a light-up "charm" that glows to notify owners of incoming calls and messages.

HTC Vigor Android Handset Appears in Leaked Photos

It appears that we're right now getting our first real-world look at the HTC Vigor, a device that's been rumored to be Verizon's follow-up device coming right after the DROID Bionic. This device appears in these photos to be a rather large display-having HTC device that's got HTC's Sense user interface aboard, four Android menu buttons across the bottom front letting us know that it's still going to be running something before Ice Cream Sandwich, a front-facing camera, a back-facing camera with dual-LED flash, a lovely speaker grill on the front, two mics on the back for noise cancellation, another speaker grill in the back near the bottom, the HTC logo nicely framed on the back by ribs that cover the palm of the area where your hand will be resting, and - what's that - a red rim around the camera lens.

HTC Glamor Smartphone Designed For Women?

HTC Glamor Smartphone Designed For Women?

Looks like HTC it still trying to figure out what women want. Early last month, there were rumors that the company was working on a female-targeted smartphone for Verizon called the HTC Bliss. At least from what was speculated, their approach seemed a bit condescending---slapping on feminine colors, apps, and a cutesy charm. You can't fault them for trying and they've reportedly even setup focus groups just for this cause. But could this newly leaked image be the result of their efforts to find a place in women's purses?

Microsoft: Unofficially updated Windows Phones won’t get our software

Microsoft: Unofficially updated Windows Phones won’t get our software

Microsoft has confirmed that Windows Phone 7 handsets unofficially upgraded to NoDo (aka update 7390) using the ChevronWP7 tool will not be able to upgrade to the new 7392 version being pushed out now, at least by official means. According to the Windows Team Blog, the unofficial modifications leave the Windows Phone handsets looking to the Zune PC software as incompletely upgraded: because of that you get error code 80180048 and can't go any further. Build 7392 isn't expected to bring any especially interesting changes, but the issue could lead to headaches down the road when Microsoft releases more significant updates like Mango to the platform.
