HTC Touch HD photo gallery, hands-on Video and pre-order price

There's a torrent of HTC Touch HD news out today, including hands-on photos and feedback, a video demo and even pre-order pricing.  The latter comes from Amazon Germany, who are asking €619 ($893) for the handset though with no estimated shipping date; as for the first, French site geekinc.fr have apparently scored a re-release handset and have offered up photos and some first-impressions.  The good?  It's about the size of an iPhone 3G, with an 800 x 480 that's gorgeous and a steamroller of a CPU.

HTC Touch HD officially announced

HTC Touch HD officially announced

HTC have put up the product page for the Touch HD smartphone, which we first caught sight of last week.  Although no press release has been issued at time of writing, what we have confirmed makes for a highly tempting handset.  A 3.8-inch WVGA 800 x 480 touchscreen, HSDPA (using the Europe/Asia 900/2100MHz bands), WiFi b/g, Bluetooth 2.0, GPS and A-GPS round out the device, together with HTC's TouchFLO 3D GUI.

T-Mobile HTC HD2 in March; myTouch Slide May 17th?

T-Mobile HTC HD2 in March; myTouch Slide May 17th?

Details of T-Mobile USA's upcoming handset launches have emerged, with TmoNews claiming to have release dates for several Android, Windows Mobile and other devices.  Perhaps of most interest is the HTC HD2, previously confirmed for T-Mobile in the Spring and now expected in March 2010; we're also curious about two new HTC Android phones, the T-Mobile myTouch Slide (which looks like it could be a QWERTY version of the HTC Magic/myTouch 3G) coming May 17th, and before that an update to the HTC myTouch 3G (described as v1.2) which throws in a 3.5mm headphone socket on February 10th.

HTC HD2 multitouch API offers true gesture support [Video]

HTC's injection of multitouch support into the HTC HD2 is one of the things that most impressed us about the smartphone, but so far the company have been reluctant to share the magic with third-party developers.  One of the oft-missed benefits of Windows Mobile, however, is a huge developer community who'll go in and dig out what they're not being given, and xda-developers' l3v5y has come up with an API for multitouch.

Zooomer adds full multitouch zoom to HTC HD2

Zooomer adds full multitouch zoom to HTC HD2

A week ago we described HTC's HD2 as the poster-child for Windows Mobile 6.5, despite HTC having to replace, rework or generally junk a lot of the Microsoft OS' native functionality and replace it with their own.  One such change - and a particularly welcome one at that - is multitouch support, but HTC have limited its use in the final build to the browser and a few other apps.  Now there's a nifty app which unlocks multitouch support in every app system-wide.

Zooomer for the HTC HD2 will work with any .exe executable file on the Windows Phone, and basically add in multitouch control.  That's going to be of mixed use, of course, since not all apps will really benefit from it, but we're glad to at least have the choice ourselves.  The functionality is selective, too, which means you can turn off Zooomer's multitouch on an app-by-app basis if you're experiencing problems or just find the zooming frustrating (such as in certain games, perhaps).

HTC HD2 hands-on video shows slick, swift multitouch

HTC HD2 hands-on video shows slick, swift multitouch

With only a relatively brief hands-on with the HTC HD2 under our belt, and memories of the laggy Toshiba TG01 worryingly fresh in our minds, you'll forgive us for holding our breath to see exactly what sort of showing the Windows Phone's 1GHz Snapdragon chipset produces.  That breath-holding is, happily, a little less earnest today, having watched The Inquirer's hands-on video with the HD2.

HTC HD2 (aka Leo) benchmarks trounce Touch HD

HTC HD2 (aka Leo) benchmarks trounce Touch HD

Windows Mobile 6.5 may not be provoking all that much interest compared to rival platforms, but one device which is certainly perking up attention is the HTC Leo, aka the HTC HD2.  Tipped to arrive in October, the 4.3-inch flagship smartphone's prize is its 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor; now one beta tester has released some benchmarking for the handset, and it's looking to be a real stormer.  The HD2 ousted HTC's Touch HD in 3D graphics performance by around 300-percent.
