Android 4.0 ICS updates detailed for Verizon

Android 4.0 ICS updates detailed for Verizon

Nearly the entire line of Android devices have been listed in one massive post made by Verizon this week detailing which of them will and which of them will not get an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. For those of you wondering why it's Verizon, the carrier, and not the manufacturers of the devices themselves that are announcing this, it's simply because it's Verizon who has to work with the manufacturer to get the update pushed to the devices because each of these devices has a special Verizon-branded build inside them - that meaning apps for the most part - and no manufacturer is free from such a bond. Have a peek if your Verizon-branded device is amongst the lucky to be getting an Ice Cream Sandwich update soon.

This Verizon Galaxy Nexus extended battery extends my tears for waiting

This Verizon Galaxy Nexus extended battery extends my tears for waiting

Back a little less than a year ago when the first Verizon LTE-laden Android smartphone was released, that being the HTC ThunderBolt for all you kids out there, it had an awesome optional extended battery that you could pick up to extend the battery time to a plausible amount of time - this being more than the 4 hours of regular time you got with LTE back in the day. Now we've got another device, the Galaxy Nexus, with an extended battery appearing for it, and though this this isn't the only other extended battery of its kind, it does remind me of the whoa I felt at the hands of the rogue FedEx delivery man I was subject to back then the day before CTIA, spring 2011.

Verizon 4G LTE network turns one year old today

Verizon 4G LTE network turns one year old today

Though it seems like just yesterday that we were first unboxing the HTC ThunderBolt, the first smartphone to roll out on Verizon's still-impressive 4G LTE network here in the USA, it's been one year to the day that the network has been active. On the first day the network was officially deployed, it covered an already impressive 39 markets, this eclipsed at this one year marker by the current 190 markets the Verizon 4G LTE network sits in today. While the Verizon LTE network has been their "4G" offering since they originally started promoting the "4G" term, they mention the competition as being less prepared for the eventual oncoming of higher speed networks - sarcasm in tow, of course.

Samsung Stratosphere Review [Video]

Samsung Stratosphere Review [Video]

The next step forward in having the mobile world adopt a connection speed isn't always necessarily straight to the newest high for specs, and the Samsung Stratosphere is here to prove it. Fitted with a slide-out full QWERTY keyboard complete with Android menu shortcuts and coming in as the second Samsung handset to work on Verizon's 4G LTE network, the Samsung Stratosphere isn't here to win any benchmark wars with its single-core 1GHz processor and relatively thick chassis, but it IS the only 4G LTE device on the market with a full QWERTY keyboard, and the 4-inch 800 × 480 Super AMOLED display doesn't hurt none either. Will the Stratosphere access a market just waiting to be tapped? We shall see!

AmazonWireless puts ALL Verizon phones on sale for a penny

AmazonWireless puts ALL Verizon phones on sale for a penny

There's only one exception to the rule on this "all Verizon phones" sale for a penny, can you guess what it is? One might think that the servers here at AmazonWireless would be massacred if it was found that all models of the iPhone would be on sale for a penny, but alas for you iOS fans, AmazonWireless doesn't carry the iPhone at all, so technically this is an "all Verizon phones that we have here in stock" sale. That said, you'll be able to pick up such BRAND NEW devices as the DROID 3, the DROID BIONIC, HTC Rhyme, and the Pantech Breakout, amongst the 31 on sale today.
