SlashGear Week in Review – Week 43 2009

Weeks are flying by and it's time for another week in review. Monday we learned that a new hack was available from the iPhone Dev Team that adds MMS to first generation iPhones and tethering to 3.1.2 OS for the later iPhone models. We also found out that Microsoft is set to issue a new update for the Xbox 360 that will break unauthorized storage devices. That means that some gamers will be unable to access the saved game data after applying the new update.

Well they say time files when you are having fun, but they never mention how fast time flies when you are typing your fingers to bleeding nubs to bring your wonderful readers all the gadget news fit to print and then some. Here we are again with another week in review for your reading pleasure. Spotify hit iPhone and Android devices this week. So many people grabbed the app that the free service quickly went back to invite only status. Sony unveiled a super-thin new wireless HDTV this week that makes Paris Hilton look fat by comparison. Tiny Vodafone 845 Android 2.1 phone spotted

Android devices with 2.8-inch QVGA displays haven't exactly been flooding the market, but if you're holding out for an ultra-compact handset running Android 2.1 Eclair then just such a thing may be almost upon us.  Freshly leaked to the::unwired, the Vodafone 845 has dualband UMTS/HSPA, WiFi b/g and Bluetooth 2.1, along with a 3.2-megapixel camera, but measures a sub-Tattoo 100 x 55 x 13 mm.

The 845 hardware is apparently the handiwork of Huawei, with the phone being otherwise known as the Joy.  It won't be the first time we've seen a Huawei Android device attempt to take a bite out of the entry-level market; the company are responsible for the T-Mobile Pulse, a budget Android smartphone though with a 3.5-inch touchscreen rather than the Vodafone 845's compact panel.
