AT&T LG Optimus G Review

AT&T LG Optimus G Review

With the LG Optimus G, this OEM brings on its most powerful device by a long shot, with Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 Pro quad-core processor inside and a 4.7-inch TrueHD IPS+ LCD display up front, this running on AT&T's 4G LTE network here in the USA. What we're seeing here is a device that's ever so slightly confused in its identity - with more power than it knows what to do with in a device that looks and feels fabulous, but is just a bit bigger and more slippery than a normal-sized human being will be comfortable holding. Perhaps this combination of looks and processing power are enough to convince us that LG has suddenly become as much of a top-tier contender in the USA as Samsung and Apple?

The front of the device has a lovely curved-edged pane of reinforced Gorilla Glass, the sides are white and black hard plastic, and the back is no less than a DuPont Kevlar fiber. The whole device has a splash-guard coating, inside you've got Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and Motorola's cool new user interface that's full of color.

AT&T Motorola ATRIX HD official with 720p ColorBoost display

This week the Motorola ATRIX HD has been revealed for AT&T's 4G LTE network with a massively high definition display and a dual-core processor under the hood. This device enters the ranks of the top 10 highest-definition display-having devices on the market at 329 PPI, only being beaten by the HTC Rezound, Sony XPERIA S, and LG LU1400 (a strange swivle-screen smartphone from 2008), and matching the LG Nitro HD - and yes, it beats the iPhone 4/4S. That's 1280 x 720 pixel resolution over a lovely 4.5-inch display that Motorola touts as 720p HD ColorBoost.

DROID Incredible 4G LTE Review

DROID Incredible 4G LTE Review

This week we've gotten the chance to take a peek at the next in a line of rather popular conservatively sized powerhouses from HTC, this time called the DROID Incredible 4G LTE. We've had a look at the Incredible 2 as well as the original DROID Incredible, now it's time to decide if this HTC One-era device is up to the task of bringing the DROID brand name back up to snuff. As Verizon has no other HTC One device, with T-Mobile and AT&T getting the prizes this time around from that manufacturer, it might be high time Big Red gets its own taste of the Sense (4.0, as seen in this hands-on with the HTC One S) we've been using for weeks.

It’s a “Beats” World, We Just Listen To It

It’s a “Beats” World, We Just Listen To It

Did you see this product announced, back on March 5? I didn't think so, but if you've been watching American Idol, you should have seen ads for Beat's audio "Beatbox portable," which is, "an AT&T exclusive." I have been trying to wrap my head around the idea that a wireless carrier would want to procure exclusive distribution for a portable speaker, and then spend millions of dollars advertising it (a 30 second spot on American Idol costs approximately $500,000). Oh, and the price of the speaker itself? $399.

Android 4.0 ICS updates detailed for Verizon

Android 4.0 ICS updates detailed for Verizon

Nearly the entire line of Android devices have been listed in one massive post made by Verizon this week detailing which of them will and which of them will not get an upgrade to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich. For those of you wondering why it's Verizon, the carrier, and not the manufacturers of the devices themselves that are announcing this, it's simply because it's Verizon who has to work with the manufacturer to get the update pushed to the devices because each of these devices has a special Verizon-branded build inside them - that meaning apps for the most part - and no manufacturer is free from such a bond. Have a peek if your Verizon-branded device is amongst the lucky to be getting an Ice Cream Sandwich update soon.
