Perfect photo portrait research mimics the masters

Striking headshot portraits that offer the same styles as famous photographers could one day be created from the sort of snaps you can take with your phone, with one computer vision research team cooking up a dynamic retouching system. The handiwork of a group led by computational photography researcher YiChang Shih, the system - dubbed "Style Transfer for Headshot Portraits" - takes a regular source picture and another showing the an example of the sort of style you're trying to achieve, blending the two automatically, and even doing the same for video.

Samsung's Galaxy S II smartphone blew us away with its combination of dual-core performance, impressive Super AMOLED Plus display and super-slim dimensions, beating the HTC Sensation to the market. The company's official accessories haven't been so timely, however, but the Samsung Vehicle Dock Kit, HDTV Adapter, Desktop Dock and Battery Charger Stand are finally on the SlashGear test bench. SlashGear Week in Review – Week 22 2011

Welcome to another edition of the SlashGear Week in Review. Monday we put up our review of the HTC Flyer WiFi tablet. We figure that the tablet will win over many people that want something smaller than the iPad with a pen stylus. Monday reports came in that a third worker had died from injuries sustained in the explosion at the Foxconn plant in China. The explosion is thought to be the result of combustible aluminum dust but the investigation is ongoing.
