FairPhone hits production goal: aims to “put social values first”

The device known as FairPhone has reached its initial funding goal, hereby making the device a reality and taking the aim of the program to a much more real place. This device aims to be manufactured and sold in as "fair" a way as possible, starting with conflict-free resources, an "open, flexible design", and what the group calls "transparent" production and pricing. This machine aims to go to market to take on top-tier smartphones like the Samsung GALAXY S 4, the iPhone 5, and the HTC One while it does so with a clear conscience.

HTC M4 vs HTC One: wait for Verizon, or wait even longer?

HTC M4 vs HTC One: wait for Verizon, or wait even longer?

As the HTC One is confirmed for Verizon here in the United States, so too has an "HTC One Mini" been all but confirmed by a set of leaked up-close photos. These photos are either the work of a hardware tester or an extremely dedicated mock-up artist - as we're inclined to believe the former, it's become apparent that a new choice must be made for those waiting for their favorite amalgamation of HTC and Android. Should you pick up an HTC One now, or does it make more sense to wait for the ever-so-slightly smaller HTC M4?

HTC CEO: Exec changes and “narrowed” focus are right for us

HTC CEO Peter Chou has insisted that the company is still on a solid track, despite the recent spate of high-profile exits from its leadership team. "Actions to streamline our business resulted in some reorganization and executive departures," Chou conceded in a statement given to SlashGear this morning, "but initial sales of the One have validated our approach." The comment follows some upturn in sales, though HTC is not out of the danger zone yet.

HTC One’s big brother tipped with 5+ inch screen

This week has certainly been one for unofficial HTC One announcements - today's comes in at 5-inches or more with a smaller cousin in the works as well. While earlier today the HTC One was suggested to be coming in a so-called "Google Edition" with exclusive aim for Verizon, this afternoon there's word that two MORE HTC One relatives are in the mix. The first of these is the HTC One's larger relative, while the second is one we've heard of before: the HTC M4.

HTC sees more top execs disappear as Facebook fouls First launch

HTC continues to lose high-level staff as its North American team gradually peels away the struggling smartphone company, with industry talk suggesting Facebook's Home launch strategy actually ended up undermining rather than supporting the firm. Chief Product Officer Kouki Kodera, in charge of HTC's product strategy, left the firm last week according to The Verge's sources, along with VP of global communications Jason Gordon. Meanwhile, phones that HTC has pegged its recovery on, such as the One, struggle to compete - in mindshare at least - in the face of Samsung and Apple's marketing budget.

NASA’s trio of Android “PhoneSats” all operational: orbit tests under way

If you weren't already aware, you should know that there are up to and including three HTC Nexus One smartphones floating above your head right this minute in part of a NASA mission to prove (or disprove) the viability of low-cost space exploration "PhoneSats". Each of these low-cost satellites was aboard the first flight of Orbital Science Corporation's Antares rocket, launched after this rocket took off from NASA's Wallops Island Flight Facility in Virginia just two days ago.

HTC One turnaround tipped as supply bottleneck loosens

A sluggish start to HTC One shipments hasn't robbed the new flagship of all its stream, new analyst figures claim, with a "mini turnaround" predicted as the One picks up the pace. 1.2m One units are expected to ship in April, J.P. Morgan Securities' supply chain checks indicate, up from just 300,000 in March after the phone's stumbling launch, with around 2m expected to ship in May.

HTC One availability expands: USA before end of April

This morning HTC has sent out a blast on the soon-approaching availability of the HTC One in several countries around the world. For the United States and across Europe, the HTC One is now set for "before the end of April." That means most of the major carriers will be releasing the HTC One at that same time, we must expect, here in the United States.
