HTC Desire 200 leaks as budget HTC One mini

The tiniest of HTC smartphones from this HTC One generation appears to have leaked today with the name "HTC Desire 200" attached to it. While this little amalgamation of metal, plastic, and glass might look like a palm-sized HTC One, it's only a shadow of its larger hero cousin. Instead, this machine will aim for the ultra-budget crowd, bringing with it a low-resolution display and a slightly older version of Android and Sense than the common 2013 smartphone.

When the Verizon HTC One hit the same process we're seeing a new HTC One Mini (aka HTC M4) entering today with the Bluetooth Special Interest Group, it was unveiled by the carrier later that day. Today, on the other hand, it's a bit more likely that this machine will remain under cover. The HTC M4 has been rumored to be in the mix for a late summer 2013 release for some time - in some cases, appearing as an HTC One Mini before the HTC One was revealed on its own!

HTC One Max may launch aside companion HTC Mini+ in UK

As HTC prepares to launch "big things" in the very near future, rumors of a dual-launch of two machines, one rather large and the other quite tiny, aim directly at the UK. The larger of these in the HTC One Max is tipped by Expert Reviews as quite possibly headed for a UK release right as the smaller companion machine we're speaking of here is placed on store shelves. The smaller device was known originally as the HTC Mini (not to be mistaken for our recently reviewed HTC One mini, the stand-alone smartphone.)

What you're seeing here is a set of winning bits and pieces of the HTC One, including Sense 5.0 and Beats Audio, leaving out several keys - BoomSound, for example. No worries though, this device isn't aimed at the same audience as the HTC One or One mini anyway.

Expected to be visually near-identical to the HTC One, according to phoneArena's sources, the M4 (a codename, of course; the One was codenamed HTC M7) is expected to have a 4.3-inch 720p display and an UltraPixel camera.

Stagefright might help fix one of Android’s biggest flaws

Last week, the Android world woke up to quite a scare. Imagine a vulnerability where you don't have to do anything at all. You just need to receive an MMS (multimedia message) and you're done for. That was Stagefright. And while Google was said to have responded quickly, revelation of the security hole also put one of Android's biggest warts under a spotlight once more. No matter how swiftly Google acts, updates don't come as fast. Now, however, Stagefright might ironically be helping change that, slowly but, hopefully, surely.
