March release of HTC Legend claims carrier KPN

March release of HTC Legend claims carrier KPN

The existence of the HTC Legend is no great surprise - after all, we've seen the handset in the wild a couple of times now - but going by Dutch carrier KPN the Android smartphone is almost certainly going to make its official appearance at Mobile World Congress 2010 next week.  The carrier prematurely posted a preview page for the Legend this week, confirming some of the rumored specifications in the process, and tipping availability in March.

The reservation form was quickly pulled, but not before Tweakers grabbed a few shots of it.  As we've heard, the Legend has a 5-megapixel camera, GPS and AGPS, and is clearly shown running HTC's Sense UI system.  Unfortunately there's no confirmation of some of the more technical rumors about the phone, particularly talk of it running a faster, 600MHz Qualcomm MSM7227 chipset than the Hero's 528MHz chip.

HTC Trophy gets clearly pictured: QWERTY/touchscreen WinMo candybar [Update: It's a fan render]

HTC Trophy gets clearly pictured: QWERTY/touchscreen WinMo candybar [Update: It's a fan render]

HTC's 2010 smartphone roadmap may have skewed heavily toward Android, but that wasn't to say the company were planning to abandon Windows Mobile altogether.  The first clear render of the HTC Trophy - a Windows Mobile 6.5 candybar with a 3-inch VGA capacitive touchscreen and a full QWERTY keyboard - has leaked, and despite the OS it looks to have potential.

Update: Too good to be true; this isn't HTC's work but that of ElCondor from xda-developers; somewhere along the line his watermark has been edited out.  He's done a great job, too: compare it to the fuzzy image in the leaked roadmap.  If the Trophy looks this good in real life, we'll take one! [Thanks Sohaib!]

HTC HD2 WinMo 7 upgrade tipped by HTC support team

Windows Mobile 7 has been in the headlines this week - and not for the best of reasons - when sources in Asia suggested it might be delayed into 2011, but there's some potentially positive news for HTC HD2 owners or would-be owners.  According to an email from HTC's European customer support team to an xda-developers forum member, HTC plan to offer a free Windows Mobile 7 ROM download to HD2 owners "when it is available".

HTC HD2 to get official WinMo 7 update in 2010?

Pinch of salt time, but msmobiles have heard from an unnamed source that HTC are planning to offer an official Windows Mobile 7 upgrade for the HTC HD2 as soon as Microsoft formally announce the new smartphone platform.  The site is declining to reveal who their source is, and HTC have never confirmed that they plan to bring the HD2 up to speed with WM7, which is expected to arrive near the end of 2010.

HTC Tattoo Android smartphone review

HTC Tattoo Android smartphone review

Taking the software enhancements from your flagship Android smartphone and injecting it into the runt of the range might throw up warning signs for some, but that's exactly what HTC have done with the Tattoo. It may be smaller, pack fewer megapixels and a less fashionable touchscreen than the HTC Hero, but the Tattoo still totes the well-received HTC Sense along with Android 1.6. Are we looking at the bargain of the season, or is the Tattoo just playing dress-up? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Verizon HTC Imagio Windows Phone review

Verizon HTC Imagio Windows Phone review

A thoughtful person might look at the Verizon Imagio and decide that it's almost HTC delivering the Touch HD (Review part 1 & part 2) that their US audience never officially had. A comparatively large touchscreen, slender casing and 5-megapixel camera certainly tally with what the Touch HD offered; still, it's been almost a year since we reviewed the GSM phone, so does the Imagio deliver the goods with Windows Mobile 6.5? HTC Touch HD2 full spec list revealed
