HTC First vs HTC M4: should you wait to drop Facebook Home?

HTC First vs HTC M4: should you wait to drop Facebook Home?

There are two HTC smartphones headed to the market in the next few weeks, the First of which is called the HTC First - fully equipped with Facebook Home for you social networking fanatics. The other is one that's not been fully recognized is an iteration of the HTC experience with nearly the same specifications of the HTC First, this time called the HTC M4 - aka the HTC e1. The thing is, though, that the HTC e1 is already on the market in China, while the HTC M4 (code name similar to the HTC One's "M7") might never reach the public.

HTC M4 tipped as HTC First minus Home plus UltraPixel camera

If you've got a hankering for an HTC One with a smaller display size and a body like the HTC first, but without so much Facebook onboard, you might be in luck! This week the HTC M4 has been tipped, a similar code-name onboard to the HTC One (which was code-named M7) complete with specifications that suggest it's a slightly different delivery of the HTC First without Facebook Home - Sense instead!

HTC One appears in line for HTC One event

This morning we've had the opportunity to have the briefest of glimpses at the HTC One in the wild as what we must assume is an HTC employee took several photos of the line headed in to the official HTC One event in New York City. We'll be live this morning in both NYC and London as the HTC event appears in just under an hour, but for now - here it is! This device has been showing up in bits over the past couple of weeks and we expect it to be pushed in full throughout the day.

Ubuntu tablet tease counts down to HTC event

Ubuntu tablet tease counts down to HTC event

In a move that's making as clear a statement as can be made without outright saying the final word, Ubuntu has set up a timer with the words "tick, tock, tablet time" attached, lining up perfectly with the HTC event tomorrow morning. If there's one thing that's clear in the world of technology news reporting, it's that there's no such thing as a coincidence - and never more than in situations such as these. The doors open at 9:15 AM EST for a 10AM start in New York City - Ubuntu's reveal looks to be set for the event's start.

HTC One event teases big, flat, square device

If your curiosity wasn't piqued before today for the HTC One event taking place tomorrow, it's certainly about to be. The folks behind the wheel at the HTCGlobal Twitter account have just tweeted - or Instagramed, rather, a photo of a collection of devices with sheets over them, one of these devices appearing to be rather square in shape - and much larger than a smartphone. Could it be that another HTC Jetstream is on the way?

HTC One render and sample image leak

HTC One render and sample image leak

Previously known as the HTC M7 that we've heard so much about, some more details about the HTC One have leaked out, specifically a new rendering and a sample image from the new device, courtesy of EVLeaks. The render claims to show off a full frontal of the rumored smartphone, while the sample image gives us a potential glimpse of what to expect from the camera when HTC's new flagship arrives, presumably a little over a week away.

HTC’s “new sound and camera experience” may be deja-vu

HTC’s “new sound and camera experience” may be deja-vu

This week the folks at HTC have created a rather interesting "Brief History of Photography" timeline in which they tease a "new sound and camera experience" for 2013 - but isn't that what they did last year? Have a peek back at the original announcement of HTC ImageSense and the HTC One X to see how both photography and superior sound quality (with Beats Audio) were pushed at Mobile World Congress 2012. Fast-forward to 2013 and we've got HTC once again claiming to bring on both next-level sound and photography. It seemed pretty great back then, will it seem great again here one year later?

HTC turns focus to inexpensive smartphones for 2013

HTC turns focus to inexpensive smartphones for 2013

This week HTC has revealed its Q4 2012 financial results with less than favorable comparisons to this same time last year, letting investors know that their strategy for hitting 2013 with a bang will be a relatively low starting price point for the Chinese mobile market. This strategy capitalizes on the massive growth potential for greater China and takes the power of the lower-tier market (still largely untapped in many regions around the world) to a whole new level. This set of announcements unfortunately still has HTC forecasting steady or falling margins through the immediate future.

Leaked specs suggest updated DROID DNA or M7 for Verizon

Leaked specs suggest updated DROID DNA or M7 for Verizon

Well this is interesting: Twitter user @LlabTooFeR has posted a list of specs for an allegedly incoming HTC device with a codename of DLXPLUS. Those who were following rumors before the reveal of the DROID DNA will recognize the "DLX" part of that codename, as it's what the device was called before it was officially announced by HTC. So, this new list of specs suggests that an enhanced version of the DROID DNA is on the way.
