T-Mobile HTC Touch HD2 “coming soon” catalog leaks

T-Mobile HTC Touch HD2 “coming soon” catalog leaks

Having heard talk yesterday of the HTC HD2 getting a release on UK carrier T-Mobile (as well as earlier mutterings regarding an O2 launch as well), now an anonymous tipster has delivered what looks to be a screenshot confirming it.  Dropped into CoolSmartPhone's inbox, the image (which, we have to say, would be pretty straightforward to mock-up if you were so inclined) names the Windows Phone as the HTC Touch HD2.

HTC One M8 with Windows hands-on

HTC One M8 with Windows hands-on

Your eyes do not deceive you, and no, this isn't a hack or a mock-up. The HTC One M8 with Windows has made its debut, launching today as a Verizon exclusive in the US, and as the name suggests it's the One M8 we're very familiar with, only with Android switched out for Windows Phone. The path to flipping OSes isn't as simple as the HTC HD2 might have led us to believe, however, and so I caught up with HTC to find out what was involved in making the first UltraPixel Windows Phone.

Amazon, Samsung, HTC… who’ll be webOS’ new suitor?

Amazon, Samsung, HTC… who’ll be webOS’ new suitor?

HP's decision to amputate its webOS hardware line and attempt to tourniquet the cash gush has left the platform's future in the air. The TouchPad and Pre lines may be dead in the water, but HP has made it clear that the company is "not walking away from webOS" but instead, according to developer relations VP for the platform Richard Kerris, intends to "explore the best hardware partner for it." Who, though, might be in the market for a plucky platform yet to find a manufacturer who can match it with appealing hardware? With the mobile segment in its current flux, there are some big names out there who could well be interested.

Apple targets HTC in second ITC patent case

Apple targets HTC in second ITC patent case

Apple has filed a new ITC complaint against HTC, the second such suit alleging patent infringement. The exact devices covered by the complaint are unknown at present, though Apple's complaint - "Portable Electronic Devices and Related Software" - looks broad enough to cover not only HTC's smartphones but tablets and perhaps HTC Sense, the company's custom interface primarily found on Android handsets as well.

A Week with the HTC HD7: Hardware

A Week with the HTC HD7: Hardware

We've already covered the HTC HD7, we've even managed to review the device in its international version, and the version that launched on November 8th for T-Mobile USA. Both reviews showed that Windows Phone 7 is out to a good start, but obviously there's a few things that left us wanting more. Nothing's perfect, but so far the Windows Phone 7 platform has launched on some impressive hardware. And now, we're going to take a far more personal look at the device. This is the first part of a four-part series, where we'll look at the device, its software, and other features in a more personal approach. This isn't a review. Instead, I am going to see how well Windows Phone 7, and the HTC HD7, stands up after a week of usage, and you'll be taking the ride with me.

T-Mobile HTC HD7 Review

T-Mobile HTC HD7 Review

The HTC HD7 is no stranger to the SlashGear frontpage, having already been well handled at the European launch and then subsequently reviewed. Now, the smartphone has made its US debut on T-Mobile, the carriers' one and only Windows Phone 7 device. We loved the Euro HD7's big screen and slim body, but had a few harsh words to say about its performance; has the T-Mobile HD7 kept its strengths in its trip across the Atlantic? Check out the SlashGear review after the cut.

HTC HD7 Review

HTC HD7 Review

The HTC HD7 wears its potential on its sleeve. The biggest of the first batch of Windows Phone 7 devices, at 4.3-inches it's also one of the largest smartphones of any OS on the market. We've already given our approval to Windows Phone 7 in our launch-day reviews, and we were quietly impressed during our initial play at the HD7's launch. Available exclusively on O2 in the UK right now, and T-Mobile in the USA from November 8, is the HD7 not just the biggest but the best Windows Phone 7 device around? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

HTC HD7 Hands On [Video]

HTC HD7 Hands On [Video]

At the top of HTC's hill, with its nicely fitted crown, is the successor to the HD2 in more ways than one: the HD7. Featuring Microsoft's mobile Operating System, Windows Phone 7, the HD7 features some of the same specifications as its previous iteration, which launched in the United States in a coupe of different models, but the differences in the mobile OS and its functionality make the device have a fresh breath of new life.
