HTC EVO 4G LTE shipping date now May 24

In what's quickly becoming one of the most hotly anticipated smartphones on its carrier of choice, the HTC EVO 4G LTE's release situation has just turned back to positive with a May 24th ship date on the books. The HTC EVO 4G LTE was recently the subject of an investigation / check sort of event at the US border while HTC's shipment (which also included HTC One X) units were held up on account of their supposed patent-infringing software. Since we first heard that news, HTC's newest relative of the HTC One series has been cleared - or is about to be cleared, at least, as its carrier suggests the late May shipping date as a reality for pre-order customers.

HTC EVO 4G LTE vs HTC One X

HTC EVO 4G LTE vs HTC One X

Now that the HTC EVO 4G LTE and the HTC One X have been released from customs - or so we've heard - we can start deciding which one we really want when we head to the store this week. What we've got here are two devices of the same mind, each with a 4.7-inch display, the same Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, and what very much appears the be the same camera on the back as well. The big difference then lies not in the hardware, but in the carrier - and with LTE on both devices, it might be a tough call - right?

Are you feeling the squeeze yet? The AT&T One X and EVO 4G LTE are facing stock shortages in the United States thanks to a block at customs ordered by the ITC back in December. It hasn’t been clear exactly when the ban will be lifted, but HTC has released a statement saying that some phones have slipped through customs already.

In the epic battle that has become HTC's this summer in bringing their new line of hero smartphones into the USA, the HTC EVO 4G LTE has once again suffered a bit of a loss as Best Buy takes back what it'd reported earlier this week with a new announcement of delay. Though the press already does have its hands on review units of this device, it seems that that's as far as HTC was allowed to go with getting said hardware into the states before patent infringement via Apple reared its head.

Samsung may face HTC-like block by Apple next

This week we're seeing one gigantic slip in stock prices for HTC as Apple's complaint to the ITC has two of their next hero phones blocked from being shipped to the USA - now we must ask if Samsung's Galaxy S III will be next. What we're seeing here is the HTC One X as well as the HTC EVO 4G LTE being blocked by "a standard U.S. Customs review of shipments that is required after an ITC exclusion order." This information comes straight from HTC who note that the proposed infringement comes from a dialer app that comes pre-installed on HTC mobile phones. This order dates back to December of 2011 between HTC and Apple when the order was sent down that the order on the case would be delivered no later than April 19th, 2012: this affecting at this point just these two HTC devices thus far.
