HTC delays Lollipop for carrier models of One M7 and M8

HTC delays Lollipop for carrier models of One M7 and M8

Rome wasn't built in a day, and some things take more than 90 days to make. After starting a new trend of transparency among manufacturers, HTC is now effectively breaking its 90-day guarantee. It has announced that it will take longer for carrier versions of its 2013 and 2014 One flagship to get their Android 5.0 dessert and it is explaining, though very briefly, why. And although one can't probably argue quality vs speed, some might ask why it took so long before HTC formally acknowledged the delay.

Vodafone Netherlands outs Galaxy S6, Galaxy S Edge names

Vodafone Netherlands outs Galaxy S6, Galaxy S Edge names

We had quite a few rumors about HTC's MWC 2015 contender the past few days. Now it's time to turn our gaze back to Samsung's tag team. While there is very little doubt as to what the flagship will be named, which will be the Galaxy S6, we're now seeing some indication that its curved edge variant might be named a wee bit differently. Vodafone Netherlands has, accidentally or otherwise, put up a placeholder page for the Galaxy S6 and in the page's source code also lies the name of the Galaxy S Edge.

HTC One M9 leak teases same style but new camera

HTC One M9 leak teases same style but new camera

HTC is teasing big things for its Mobile World Congress event on March 1st, but the surprise may have already been spoiled with the leak of what's said to be the new HTC One M9. The freshly-exposed flagship is, if the tattle behind the prototype is true, markedly similar in design to the existing One M8 - no bad thing, given it remains one of the more handsome and well-constructed Android phones out there - but, much as with the M8's progression from M7, with a number of refinements like slimmer bezels around the screen. There's also what looks to be a notable change in the camera mounting on the back, which lends weight to rumors that the M9 will see some significant differences there.

Using the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge is an exercise in obsession with using the biggest and the newest in smartphone tech. Instead, like the original Galaxy Note, this device presents a unique method of delivering you your smartphone-family software in a piece of hardware that's extremely well made. If you want to experiment with a new kind of hardware, Samsung proves here that they're the company you're going to want to do it with.

HTC Desire EYE hands-on: The 13MP “Selfie phone”

Blame Instagram, blame Facebook, blame Tinder: whatever the cause, the selfie is big business and HTC's latest smartphone, the HTC Desire EYE, is aiming to capitalize on that. Flagship of the Desire series - the mainstream range below the One series - the Desire EYE doesn't just boast a 13-megapixel camera on the back, but another one of identical resolution on the front for your vanity shots. Announced today at HTC's NYC event, I've been playing with the Desire EYE for the past few days: read on for some first impressions.

HTC Desire 612 smartphone hits Verizon tomorrow

The market is full of budget-centric smartphones that have started bringing with them features you wouldn't have found on such handsets a relatively short while ago. Among this emerging redefinition of lower-end smartphones is the HTC Desire 612, an entry-level Android handset that boasts both XLTE and the maker's BoomSound as its two biggest bragging points, as well as a notable 4.7-inch HD display. Verizon has detailed the phone, announcing that it will begin offering it starting tomorrow for free alongside a two-year contract.

HTC One M8 with Windows Review

What we could be witnessing right now is a crossroads in the Windows universe. HTC may very well have made the step towards legitimacy the Windows Phone platform needed to show the world that they really, truly can compete with Android. In the HTC One M8 with Windows, HTC has switched out Android for Windows Phone in the greatest handset they've ever made, providing a new path of opportunity for Microsoft in the process.

HTC One M8 with Windows hands-on

HTC One M8 with Windows hands-on

Your eyes do not deceive you, and no, this isn't a hack or a mock-up. The HTC One M8 with Windows has made its debut, launching today as a Verizon exclusive in the US, and as the name suggests it's the One M8 we're very familiar with, only with Android switched out for Windows Phone. The path to flipping OSes isn't as simple as the HTC HD2 might have led us to believe, however, and so I caught up with HTC to find out what was involved in making the first UltraPixel Windows Phone.

HTC One mini 2 Review

HTC One mini 2 Review

HTC makes a great flagship smartphone but overlooked its midrange, and it has the dreary sales figures over the past couple of quarters to prove how shortsighted that was. Swinging in to save 2014, then, is the HTC One mini 2, a 4.5-inch version of the One M8 which promises to distill down the best of its bigger brother, but with a more palatable price tag. We’ve been burned by lackluster “Mini Me” phones before, though, so does the One mini 2 keep enough of the charm? Read on for our full review.

HTC One mini 2 hands-on: One M8 gets a baby brother

HTC's One M8 has got itself a little brother, the HTC One mini 2, distilling the style and some of the specifications of the flagship Android phone into a more affordable, smaller device for the midrange. Headed to stores in just a few weeks time, the One mini 2 wraps a 4.5-inch 720p HD display in a smooth metal casing, though unlike the One M8 it lacks the Duo Sense camera system. Read on for our first-impressions.
