HTC One’s big brother tipped with 5+ inch screen

HTC One’s big brother tipped with 5+ inch screen

This week has certainly been one for unofficial HTC One announcements - today's comes in at 5-inches or more with a smaller cousin in the works as well. While earlier today the HTC One was suggested to be coming in a so-called "Google Edition" with exclusive aim for Verizon, this afternoon there's word that two MORE HTC One relatives are in the mix. The first of these is the HTC One's larger relative, while the second is one we've heard of before: the HTC M4.

Verizon HTC One tipped for today’s press event [UPDATE: Nope]

This morning it's been suggested to SlashGear by a trusted source (the anonymous kind) that the HTC One will be appearing at the Verizon press event taking place at 11AM PST in Las Vegas today during CTIA. This event has been teased as one with a "Special Announcement", which could mean anything, but given the atmosphere and the suggestion, we have no reason to doubt that the HTC One will be part of the show.

HTC One variant appears in code: Verizon may be brewing

HTC One variant appears in code: Verizon may be brewing

As the HTC One was released in review unit form earlier this year, it became apparent that a cross-carrier release in the USA wasn't as cut and dry as it first appeared. The largest carrier in the United States, Verizon Wireless, was tipped to be considering releasing the HTC One on their 4G LTE network not only breaking from their original passing on such a release, but with an unheard-of lack of additional branding. While the HTC-made DROID DNA still sits as Verizon's hero device by that manufacturer, a deeply embedded code leak discovered this month may be an indicator of Verizon's push to bring the HTC One to its ranks soon.

HTC One Verizon release in question as Tweets disappear

This week the HTC One has been once again teased for release on the 4G LTE-toting Verizon network here in the United States. HTC One Review [2013]

HTC One Review [2013]

It's been a tough few years for HTC, unsung victim of the Apple-Samsung smartphone war, and the new HTC One has a lot to do to fix that. The company has seen its place in Android dwindle from trailblazer to also-ran, as Samsung's cutting-edge hardware and vast marketing budget forced Galaxy to the fore. Solid phones like 2012's One X and One S failed to relight HTC's fire, and so it has done the only thing it can: raise its game much, much higher with the HTC One. We're back to the days of risk-taking hardware decisions and legitimately interesting software, but the big question is whether the One can pull it off. Read on for the full SlashGear review.
