HP TouchPad, Pre3 in Dr Dre Music Video “I Need a Doctor”

For those of you much more interested in the webOS aspect of this article, you must forgive me, as I've got not only a healthy addiction to the mise on scene of music videos, but also the awesome implications of cross-branding. What we're looking at here is a video for rapper / producer Dr Dre's newest single "I Need a Doctor." In this video you'll see not only an HP TouchPad, not only an HP Pre3, but a very visible demonstration of webOS' new "Touch to Share" functionality. What you'll see the two sharing is medical information about the artist who in the video is receiving futuristic care for a terrible car crash he's suffered. This is not the first time Dr Dre has supported an HP product (think Beats by Dre,) but it is the first time one of these products has carried webOS.

HP CEO: HP innovation “takes too long to get to market”

HP CEO Leo Apotheker has admitted that one of the main issues the company faces is reducing the amount of time between development, product announcement and retail sales. Speaking to the WSJ, Apotheker admitted that "we need to fire up our innovation engine and get our products to market faster"; however, there's no sign that the acceleration will kick in in time for the HP TouchPad.

We've been calling for a webOS-based tablet for years now, and HP has finally delivered with the HP TouchPad. The first of a new HP webOS TouchPad tablet family, it has a 9.7-inch 1024 x 768 capacitive touchscreen and dual-core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon APQ8060 processor, squeezed into a 242 x 190 x 13.7 mm chassis weighing around 740g. It will also help debut the next-generation of Touchstone wireless peripherals and webOS 3.0.

HP webOS event starting now!

HP's big surprises - the HP Pre3, HP Veer and HP TouchPad - may have been revealed already, but that doesn't mean we're not interested in what the company has done in terms of webOS today. SlashGear is on-site and waiting for the event to begin, and while there's no sign of any Palm logos, we're still expecting plenty of Palm DNA in the line-up.
