Further details on HP's Topaz webOS tablet have emerged, detailing the specifications of the 9.7-inch XGA slate we're expecting to hear about at the event on February 9. According to documents finding their way to PreCentral - and which date back to sometime in 2010 - Topaz will use Qualcomm's dual-core 1.2GHz MSM8660 CPU with Adreno 220 graphics, together with dual-band WiFi b/g/n, optional HSPA and, eventually, LTE and CDMA, and a battery good for over 8hrs. HP Topaz and Opal webOS Tablets Detailed, Renders Showcased

HP has an announcement to make regarding webOS on February 9th. The tagline "Something big, Something small, Something beyond" had many people trying to guess what the company had to show off, with plenty of fingers being pointed at a tablet device. HP and Palm haven't been coy with their tablet talk, though, and have confirmed that a tablet device is on its way featuring Palm's webOS mobile Operating System (OS). As many high-profile devices generally do, it seems that at least one of the tablet devices has found its way into the Internet, in internal render form, well before the official unveiling of the device.

Everyone's favorite news source FoxNews.com has obtained a spec sheet for a forthcoming PalmTablet today from "a trusted source." They've revealed that HP will introduce three models of a PalmPad at CES at the beginning of 2011, each of them with only minor hardware differences inside. Each of these tablets will run WebOS 2.5.1 and will represent a sort of spin-off of the magical mystical never-saw-daylight HP Slate. There's probably not getting around it, anymore. When a tablet is mentioned, not only do people start immediately comparing it to the iPad, talk about how it's "similar" are inevitable. HP eStation Zeen hits FCC, spurs webOS/Win7 tablet speculation [Updated]

HP looks to be flexing their Zeen trademark, with a new FCC filing being spotted for what looks to be a tablet-style device listed as the HP eStation Zeen.  Thanks to a confidentiality clause that doesn't lift until the end of 2010 we don't know any more details beyond the WiFi b/g/n connectivity, but it's not entirely outlandish to presume that this is either HP's webOS tablet or their Windows 7 slate.

HP Hurricane webOS tablet leaks continue

With HP still refusing to comment on the record about the fate of their Windows 7 slate, we're having to piece together their tablet plans from rumor, leaks and a little tantric chanting.  Latest to the speculation buffet is GottaBeMobile, who have heard from "two separate and reliable sources" that the Windows 7 tablet won't be released this coming summer, as HP instead focus their efforts on rushing out a webOS based slate codenamed the HP Hurricane.

HP Windows 7 Tablet Gets Canceled, We Hope for webOS Tablet Instead

Apparently tonight is not a good night for tablet devices. Though, if you were to ask a few people, it may still continue to be a very good couple of days for Hewlett-Packard. After the announcement that HP had bought Palm, suggestions of an HP Slate with webOS started coming left and right. It doesn't help when HP is telling the world that tablets are definitely on the agenda. And now, word is that HP has killed the Windows 7 tablet project, better known as the HP Slate (which debuted at CES this year). Coincidence?

HP’s webOS tablet: why is it special?

The ink on HP's press release was hardly dry when speculation about a webOS tablet began; by the time of their investors call, it was inevitable that they'd be peppered with questions about the possibility of Palm's elegant OS on more sizeable hardware. For their part, beyond a tidbit promising they were looking at smartphones, slates and potential netbooks, HP are playing things close to their chest. Still, we've not been shy before in putting forward our opinion that webOS would make for a mighty fine tablet platform, which raises the question: exactly what needs to be done before a webOS slate could come true?
