HP TouchSmart IQ800 media PC: Video Demo

HP have taken the wraps off of their latest TouchSmart PC, the IQ800-series.  Two models make up the new range, the IQ804 and IQ816, the former having a 2.16GHz T5850 Core 2 Duo (667MHz bus, 2MB cache) while the latter has a 2.10GHz T8100 Core 2 Duo (800MHz bus, 3MB cache).  Each uses HP's TouchSmart interface on a 25.5-inch 1920 x 1200 display, which you can see demonstrated after the cut.  The IQ816 also has a Blu-ray burner and GeForce 9600M GS graphics, while the IQ804 makes do with DVD and GeForce 9300M GS graphics.

HP touchscreen consumer notebook & 10-inch netbook by end of 2009?

HP are planning another touchscreen assault before the end of 2008, with a number of new finger-friendly devices planned, followed by a touchscreen cellphone that will eventually make it to the US sometime in 2009.  Among the first products will be a consumer-focused touchscreen laptop, which "people familiar with the matter" differentiate from the existing convertible Tablet PC line, together with a 10-inch netbook.

ASUS Eee Top touchscreen desktop PC video demo

The ASUS Eee All-in-One Touchscreen PC (aka the Eee Monitor, aka the Eee Top) may be still listed as pre-order only at retailers, but that doesn't seem to have stopped EeePCnews.de from getting some hands-on video of the 15.6-inch desktop PC.  Like the netbooks, it looks to prize usability over anything complex, with the so-called EasyMode touchable GUI on top of Windows XP.

SlashGear Week in Review – Week 38 2008

After a week or two on the down-low, netbooks have been back among the headlines with Sony grudgingly admitting that it will probably make one while MSI discussed plans for their second-generation range.  Not bad for something an AMD VP described as only good for "around the house".  Elsewhere, it's been 3G and netbooks getting married: Vodafone revealed their UK deal with Dell, and T-Mobile their Acer deal in Germany.  Speaking of Acer, we unboxed their Aspire One and will have the full review on Monday.
