Xplore has introduced a new tablet that goes toe-to-toe with Panasonic's Toughpad. The Xplore Bobcat is a rugged tablet running Windows 8.1 Pro (Windows 7 is also an option). With the slate comes a body designed to handle a fair amount of abuse, and a design that matches its inherent ruggedness.
Panasonic's rugged and equally pricey Toughpad FZ-M1 tablet arrives this month, and brings with it a somewhat small 7-inch display alongside hardware that lets it take whatever abuse you throw at it. For the MIL-STD-810G rated specifications, you'll be shelling out at least $1,299 USD.
HP has introduced a less expensive version of its HP Slate 7 Plus, the aptly named HP 7 Plus tablet. With the 7 Plus comes a slight downgrade in specifications and a similar decrease in price, as well as a snazzy white body and the promise that it "looks sharp with a suit and dynamite with denim."
The recent MWC 2014 could have been the perfect setting for HP to announce their HP 8 Android tablet, but it looks like the company preferred a softer approach and quietly launched the $169.99, 7.85-inch tablet online. Powered by Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, the details on this device include expandable microSD storage, 1GB of RAM and 16GB internal storage.
This week the folks at HP’s tablet department have unveiled the HP ElitePad 1000 G2, a 10.1-inch tablet made for the business world - with a bunch of accessories to show for it. Here we’re seeing a slate that rolls with a 10.1-inch display with 1920 x 1200 resolution and an Intel Atom Bay Trail-T Z3795 quad-core 1.6GHz processor and integrated Intel HD Graphics inside. It’s also coming with Windows 8.1 Pro, ready for connectivity the likes of which we’ve never seen in a tablet before.

In addition to the ProPad 600 introduced today, HP has rolled out the red carpet for its 'total business solution' slate, the HP ElitePad 1000 G2. With the ElitePad 1000 comes a svelte design at 9.2mm thin and 1.5lbs, as well as Windows 8.1 Pro and options for enterprise users.
It's not often that a single tablet is able to contend with the whole entire rest of the gadget universe, but that's exactly what's happening with the likes of the Nexus 7 - as proven once again with the release of HP's newest set of slates. The HP Slate7 Plus and Slate7 Extreme join the Slate8 Pro in Android tablet releases just in time for the holiday season, NVIDIA Tegra processors in the lot of them. They've all got a bone to pick with Google's own ASUS-made Nexus 7, of course, with this generation rocking Qualcomm Snapdragon silicon rather than last year's Tegra 3.
This year at IFA 2013, we got our hands on Panasonic's Toughpad 4k UT-MB4, the world's first 20-inch 4K tablet. With this massive slate comes a resolution of 3840 x 2560 pixels and an IPS Alpha LCD, as well as Windows 8.1 and the durability that comes with the Toughpad designation. Fast-forward a couple months, and now we know pricing and availability.
