HP Windows 7 Tablet mystery continues [Update: Development on “hold”]

Speculation around HP's tablet continues, with the company still yet to step up and confirm whether or not the project has been canned.  After a report last week suggested that the Windows 7 slate had been axed shortly after HP's acquisition of Palm, followed by a contrary report supposedly from a source within HP, the Mercury News is quoting analyst Ezra Gottheil who still expects the tablet to see a commercial launch.

Toshiba NB305-10F and HP Mini 210 get Atom N455 update

Toshiba NB305-10F and HP Mini 210 get Atom N455 update

Intel's new Atom N455 and N475 processors - which add support for DDR3 memory - may be imminently close to launch, but they're not quite official yet; we're guessing that's why Toshiba Japan promptly yanked the product page for the new NB305-10F netbook.  Pretty much the same machine as we've seen before (and reviewed back in its earlier N270 days), the only real difference with the NB305-10F is it gets an Atom N455 with 1GB of DDR3 RAM.

HP Slate Breaks Cover: Verdict Isn’t Good

HP Slate Breaks Cover: Verdict Isn’t Good

There's something to be said about a tablet with netbook internals. And, while we wish they were good things, it generally isn't. Take, for example, the HP Slate, which was just nabbed by the folks over at Connecti.ca. While they haven't had it long enough to actually get a full review up, they've got plenty of pictures of their hands-on time with the tablet, plus a mini-review to satiate anyone actually interested in the tablet from HP. What's their verdict? Meh.

HOTT MD500 & MD700 Android MIDs get new video demo

We're getting a little tired of seeing Android tablets of which there's next to zero likelihood of a US or European launch, but HOTT's distribution agreements with big-name retailers like Fry's does at least leave us pondering a possible launch of their new slates.  Shanzai caught up with two new Android engineering samples lately, one 5-inch and the other 7-inch, both running OS 1.6.  In fact, they look a little like the newest versions of HOTT's MD500 and MD700 MIDs.

HP Mini 210 Vivienne Tam edition goes Crazy Town

HP Mini 210 Vivienne Tam edition goes Crazy Town

HP and many other electronics companies are trying hard to reach people like my wife who don’t buy electronics and computers based on specifications, but buy them based on looks. My wife would take a mediocre camera if it's pink over a fantastic black camera. Most of her girly friends would do the same. For this crowd, HP has unveiled its latest product designed by Vivienne Tam.

HP Slate gets video overview: 5yrs in the making

One of the more talked about tablets at CES 2010 turned out to be one the manufacturer wasn't even officially debuting; Microsoft CES Steve Ballmer took HP's unnamed slate up on stage and then proceeded to tell us very little about it.  Happily HP themselves have decided to spill some more of their touchscreen beans, and it turns out they've been working on the device for about five years and even had it ready two years ago.

Microsoft CES 2010 Tablet is HP slate PC not Courier [Video]

Microsoft's CES 2010 keynote is only just starting - plagued by power cuts and temperamental on-stage PCs - but already Steve Ballmer's surprise tablet unveil has been scooped.  The culprit is, ironically, Microsoft itself, prematurely posting the press release to their media site.  As for that mystery tablet, despite pre-show rumors its turned out not to be the Courier; instead, it's turned out to be an as-yet unnamed HP touchscreen device.
