HP Slate 500 Arrives, Gets Unboxed by Lucky Owner

Earlier today, we reported that some lucky folks out there were seeing that their HP Slate 500 tablet were shipping, and that they should be expecting to see it arrive on their doorstep in the near future. For at least one lucky person out there, the tablet has arrived well before they imagined, and of course they did the right thing: took photos of the unboxing.

HP Slate 500 “high demand” stock warning prompts pre-order puzzlement

HP's Slate 500 tablet is leaving some pre-order customers confused, with the company blaming "high demand" for delays in shipment. Rumors of the demise of HP's Windows 7 tablet PC project, it seems, were seriously premature.  The company has officially announced the HP Slate 500, a 1.5lb 8.9-inch WSVGA tablet PC running Windows 7 with a hybrid capacitive multitouch display capable of recognizing finger control or HP's "Digital Pen" stylus for handwriting and sketches.

Our hands-on will be up shortly.

HP Slate 7 Review

HP Slate 7 Review

HP’s first go-around with a tablet didn’t actually go so well. The webOS-based TouchPad didn’t last long and was quickly discontinued. We took a peek at it during CES 2013 back in January, and it’s a metal-infested 7-incher that looks to take on Google’s Nexus 7 with a relatively stock user interface in a clean and simple package. Let’s see how it fares.
