HP has outed a new range of lightweight notbeooks, kicking off with the metal-clad HP ENVY m4 thin-and-light, and including the Sleekbook 14 and 15 for the mainstream. The ENVY m4 slots a choice of Intel Core i3/i5 processors inside its aluminum casing, paired with up to 8GB of RAM and a 1,366 x 768 display; HP tells us we can expect up to eight hours.

HP Envy Spectre coming in 15-inch version

One of the more exciting ultrabooks that we spotted at CES 2012 was the Envy 14 Spectre, HP's high-style and low-weight addition to its ENVY line. The ultrabook made a good impression thanks to is unique Gorilla Glass top, 1600x900 LCD and a compact body that crams a 14-inch screen into a size usually reserved for 13-inch laptops. DigiTimes reports that HP is showing off a 15-inch version of the Spectre in Taiwan, and that means it can't be too long before it shows up in western markets.

If you ladies and gents have been waiting for HP to hurry up and update their Envy laptop line, then you're in luck. Say hello to the new HP Envy 15 and 17, entirely redesigned inside and out. With an almost, dare I say, Macbook-esque flair, the new models retain their sexy brushed aluminum exterior. However, that's, uh, pretty much it. The chassis gets a brand-new facelift with matte black lids, silver palmrests, and, surprise, more Beats by Dr. Dre branding via a logo on the newly added analog volume dial and neat red border around the backlit chiclet keyboard.

HP have outed their latest G-series laptop, and its had an injection of ENVY styling.  The HP G62t packs a choice of Intel Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, together with up to 4GB of DDR3 memory, up to 500GB storage and integrated Intel graphics, but it's the pricing that's most interesting: whereas an ENVY 15 will set you back $1,300 upwards, the G62t starts from $599.99.

USB 3.0 gear was everywhere at CES last week with all sorts of gear using the new and much faster interface. USB 3.0 hardware may be getting unveiled in droves, but computers and computer hardware to support the specification are still rather limited. HP has announced that it will include USB 3.0 support on select Envy 15 models.
