2015 Honda NSX production plans reveal boutique super-hybrid ambitions

Honda's reinvention of the NSX, due to return to roads in 2015, will see the hybrid sportscar produced in an equally high-tech $70m US facility, the car company has confirmed. The new Ohio plant - dubbed the Performance Manufacturing Center - will be a boutique arrangement, employing around 100 specifically-skilled experts and sited at the heart of Honda's R&D facility, as the car is finessed from the NSX Concept shown off in January to a highway-ready racer.

The team at Honda has announced that they will reveal a new Acura NSX concept at next year's Detroit Auto Show, this re-starting the line that was discontinued in 2005 with the original NSX. While details remain scant on the automobile, Honda did note that it would be showing the "styling direction for the next generation of Acura's super sports car." This showing is likely to be somewhat of a next step from 2004's Detroit Auto Show reveal of the Acura High-Performance Sports Concept, as shown below.

The new Acura NSX is coming: Jan 2015 reveal

Acura knows what car fans have been waiting for, and it's finally putting us out of our misery, confirming that the new Acura NSX supercar will be unveiled in January 2015. Set to hit roads later in the year, the new NSX will take pride of place on Acura's stand at the North American International Auto Show, complete with not one, not two, but three motors pieced together in the new Sport Hybrid power unit. Aiming to reclaim the "everyday supercar" title the original NSX held so convincingly years ago, the new NSX has so far only been teased - there's a must-see video of the car after the cut - though we're expecting it to stick closely to Acura's 2013 concept.

The company has announced that cumulative global sales for its hybrid vehicles have passed the 1 million unit mark. That goal was reached at the end of September 2012 and took Honda 12 years and 11 months from the date it first started selling a hybrid vehicle, the Honda Insight, in Japan.
