More Kleer and less Bluetooth A2DP is definitely the way we'd like to see wireless music going, with the little-known lossless technology generally kicking the more common Bluetooth out of the ballpark. So we're glad to see TDK jumping on board, with their first Kleer wireless enabled TH-WR700 headphones.
DigiFi's first-generation Digital Opera headphones have only just gone on sale in the US, but the company has brought their replacement to CES this week. As well as that, they've also unveiled a set of over-the-air headphones and a PMP watch with an integrated Kleer wireless transmitter.
After our earpiphony back in October with Sleek Audio's SA6 customizable earphones, we've been waiting eagerly for their wireless adapter. Created using Kleer lossless technology, unlike the Bluetooth A2DP profile there's no unwanted compression involved; the range is meant to be better, too. Can the Sleek Audio Wireless W-1 setup live up to our great expectations?
When it comes to high fidelity audio, who better to trust than the musicians that create the music you're listening to - that concept kept alive here again today by none other than rapper 50 Cent with a few new headphones appearing right on time for the holiday season. There's two main models, one being SYNC by 50, a pair of wireless headphones, and STREET by 50, wired headphones so you don't loose em while you're out on what the name suggests, the street. Both pairs of phones are up for pre-order now and will be shipped by December 5th, 2011.
Sleek Audio has been known for both their high end over-ear and custom molding earphones, and we have gotten an up close and personal look with their new 50 Cent Platinum Headphones. Although they had no working units for us to demo, the only working set was with 50 Cent himself, we were provided with further details of the product as well as captured a few shots.
Bluetooth stereo audio has certainly helped many people cut the cord between their PMP, cellphone or laptop and their headphones, but the underwhelming default audio codec also generally means cutting out some of the fidelity, too. Sennheiser are hoping to change that with their PX 210 BT headphones, which use the proprietary apt-X codec for what's promised to be "true hi-fi quality". Question is, how do they hold up to existing wireless-quality kings Kleer? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.
We've been banging on about Kleer and their CD quality Bluetooth-busting audio technology for ages now, and so it's good to see it trickle through into more mainstream platforms. Mercedes has announced that Kleer-based audio systems will be used in its 2010 E-Class and S-Class cars, offering a choice of two audio streams from in-headrest LCD displays.
The iPad accessory market is on course to mimic the wildly successful iPhone ecosystem, but what are the must-haves? If you're anything like us you're a music fan and you want to use your iPad with an existing iPod speaker dock; we've just tried out the D&A RX1 iPod speaker dock receiver dongle we reviewed back in February, paired with a Kleer S5T transmitter, and - despite the iPad initially saying the accessory wasn't compatible - we're now enjoying our iTunes music (not to mention Spotify and other streaming services) in high quality and with no cords.
