HBO demands Google take down VLC torrent listing

HBO demands Google take down VLC torrent listing

It's not uncommon for media companies to send in DMCA takedown requests to Google in order to have it removed from search listings and indexing, but sometimes it can get a bit ridiculous. Case in point: HBO is demanding that Google remove a link to a torrent listing of a version of VLC, the popular open-source media player.

Xbox 360 Fall 2007 Dashboard Update Goes Live

Xbox 360 Fall 2007 Dashboard Update Goes Live

So it went live today, I just downloaded it myself, the biggest feature, the ability to download Xbox Originals, or full games from the original Xbox. If you plan on making a habit out of it, I’d recommend upgrading to the 120GB Xbox HDD first, Fable was one of the first 7 titles available, and it was 3.3GB I believe, so it’ll eat up the 20 gig hard drive quick.

Google app says “Hodor”, and that’s it

Starting tomorrow you'll find the Google app - the search portion of it, that is - saying "Hodor" whenever you also say "Hodor." Whether or not this means anything else for the Game of Thrones release schedule is not known - HBO and Google won't confirm anything directly, that is to say.

2016 Jaguar F-TYPE R gets AWD to go jet baiting

Jaguar is adding all-wheel drive to its 2016 F-TYPE R Coupé, part of a range-boosting move that will see variations on the popular model double to twelve. Set to debut officially - along with the rest of the new lineup - at the LA Auto Show later this month, the new F-TYPE R will be good for 0-60 mph in just 3.9 seconds, Jaguar says, and then romp on to a top speed electronically-limited to 186 mph. The big news, though, is the extra traction, which Jaguar tested by taking the new coupé to the Hakskeen Pan in South Africa and pointing it at a jet.

Google Q3 2014 Earnings hit and a miss

Google Q3 2014 Earnings hit and a miss

This afternoon Google announced their financial Q3 2014 earnings, this just a short while after Apple held their 2014 iPad event. Generally Apple’s events squash every other kind of technology news released during the day, but Google’s earnings - especially ones that turn their stock into a rock - should be strong enough to break on through. What we’re seeing today is Google’s CFO Patrick Pichette announce that they’re excited about the growth in our advertising and emerging businesses."
