Toyota adopts WiTricity wireless EV charging for 2014 trial

Toyota has picked a wireless charging system for its upcoming hybrid and EV cars, adopting WiTricity ahead of formal trials of the technology beginning in 2014. Set to appear on the next-gen Prius and other eco-friendly cars from Toyota, the company confirmed to us back in August, the system will allow drivers to recharge their car batteries simply by parking on top of a special electromagnetic-resonant transmitters that could take the form of simple mats or be embedded into parking spaces.

Cadillac Elmiraj could spawn huge halo production coupe

Cadillac appears close to green-lighting a production version of the striking Elmiraj concept, the monster touring coupe pitched right at BMW's 6-Series, with GM president Mark Reuss saying it's "the car Cadillac needs." Elmiraj, first previewed back in August and then brought out to a broadly positive reception at a number of car shows, was initially seen as a styling exercise at most, given GM's luxury arm was seen as next building a flagship sedan to best challenge the high-end. However, the greater potential for a hyper-luxe coupe to grab mindshare seems to be giving GM execs second thoughts.

Halo: Spartan Assault is coming to Xbox One and Xbox 360 sometime in December, Microsoft has announced. The exact date wasn't announced, but you can bet it'll show up in time for the holidays. Currently the game is available only on Windows 8 and Windows Phone 8 machines, as it has been since its Jul. 18, 2013 release. Toyota is working on wireless charging systems for its next-gen Prius, intending to put such connection-free technology into verification testing in 2014 in the US, Japan, and Europe.
