Why Halo 4 Is the Most Anticipated Game of 2012

Looking at the rest of the year, we can expect some blockbuster video games to hit store shelves. Activision is once again launching a Call of Duty game -- Black Ops 2 -- and despite my issues with it, Madden NFL from Electronic Arts will undoubtedly be a sales juggernaut towards the end of the summer.

But it’s November that has caught my eye the most. Early on that month, Halo 4 will hit store shelves. Only this time, the game won’t come from the fine folks at Bungie Studios that made the Halo name in the first place. This time around, Halo will be coming from 343 Industries, a part of Microsoft.

Halo 4 Web series will premiere in the fall

Microsoft may have bungled the opportunity it had to turn Halo into a multi million-dollar theatrical movie success, but the highly successful Xbox shooter franchise will be getting transformed into a live-action masterpiece nevertheless. Microsoft will be debuting a Web-based TV series in the hopes of achieving two goals - strike up as much publicity for Halo 4 as possible, and wrangle in new fans who haven't necessarily played a Halo game yet.

Microsoft announces Halo 4 for release on November 6th

Microsoft has today announced that Halo 4 will be coming this year. Players will once again be able to play as Master Chief starting from November 6th, just in time for that oh-so-important holiday season. Details about the game are scarse so far, but the plot will involve Master Chief battling “an ancient evil that threatens the fate of the entire universe.”

Tomorrow is going to be a blast for gamers who also love gigantic red hair poofs on top of late-night speakers named Conan because Microsoft and 343 Industries have tipped Halo 4 as coming from the mouth of O'Brien himself this week. Two tweets popping up today from industry heroes brought a pre-announcing of the announcement that will come from @TeamCoco and/or the actual Conan tv show tomorrow. There's an extra day in February this year, and Microsoft will apparently capitalize on that extra time as the date for which the next iteration of Halo will be revealed. Halo 4 will be the focus of a company 'Spring Showcase' event, according to translations of a Finnish magazine. The game was announced in a very brief manner at last year's E3, but this event will reportedly give a much more complete look.

Microsoft Halo 4 Creative Director leaves before completion, Starts Dream Project

It is a brand new studio by the name of Camouflaj that creative director Ryan Payton now seeks to expand, leaving Microsoft and the Halo 4 franchise months before the fourth installment in the globally-popular shooter is ready for release. Microsoft owned 343 Industries loses Payton after approximately three years service working on the Halo franchise specifically. Before he worked with Microsoft in the USA, Payton lived in Japan where he was international manager then producer at Kojima Productions, working then in another large role: making sure Metal Gear Solid 4's controls were at top notch pre-release.

Microsoft E3 leak: Halo 4 confirmed; Kinect Fun Labs games detailed [Video]
