Video of the Day – Guitar Hero dueling banjos

Video of the Day – Guitar Hero dueling banjos

Alright folks, we're trying out a new segment here at SlashGear. Every day of the week I'm going to bring you a cool tech-related video clip that I've found. They'll be of all different sorts, with a new one every day of the week.

First up is a Guitar Hero mod that someone has made. I'm not usually that into custom tracks, but this one is great, it's dueling banjos. The intro is a little slow, but it's worth it. Now only if they could get this one working in multiplayer.

LEGO Guitar Hero controller can really rock out

LEGO Guitar Hero controller can really rock out

Man, LEGOs are awesome, there's just nothing that you can't build out of them, except maybe a space shuttle, but I'm sure one of these days someone will build one of those too. As you might have guessed, someone's built something really cool from the tiny bricks. This time it's a fully-functional Guitar Hero controller.

Activison announces 11 new tracks for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

Activison announces 11 new tracks for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock

The release of Guitar Hero III is creeping ever closer, and as it does, Activision is slowly giving us new tracks that we can expect to rock. They've just officially announced 11 new tracks (though we already heard a few from the guys at Score Hero).

The great thing is that of the 11 tracks that they announced, 7 are master tracks. They have a good mix of old and new rock, which is really needed. After playing Guitar Hero 80s, I realized that having music from different eras is essential to the success of the game. Hit the jump for the 11 new tracks.

Score Hero spends some quality time with Guitar Hero III

Score Hero spends some quality time with Guitar Hero III

I'm a very impatient person, I hate waiting for a new game to come out. Guitar Hero 80s was alright, but I've already beaten it, with only a couple of songs left to 5-star. I'm ready for the next full game to come out, Guitar Hero III.

The guys over at Score Hero were invited to a special sneak peek at Guitar Hero III on the Xbox 360. We can look forward to a couple of new characters, Midoi and Slash, as well as 8 new venues where we can rock out. They also were able to score a few new tracks that have not yet been revealed.

Hands-on – Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

Hands-on – Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s

So Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80's came out yesterday. How many of you rushed out and grabbed a copy? While I wasn't nearly as excited about this expansion as I am about Guitar Hero III and Rock Band, I couldn't resist.

The game is pretty much the same, which is to be expected. It's only an expansion after all. Surprisingly, you actually get less characters to play with than usual. Only Johnny Napalm, Judy Nails, Izzy Sparks, Pandora, Axel Steel and the Grim Ripper made it into the game. Don't expect a lot of unlockables either, you get the same guitars as Guitar Hero II with the same skins, but no extra outfits for your characters, though they're already decked out in new 80's style threads.

First look at the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock guitars

First look at the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock guitars

The next installment in the Guitar Hero series finally has a complete name. It will be known as Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. They have also given us some pictures of the guitars we'll be using to rock out. All guitars in the game will be Gibson, as they have signed an exclusive deal with them. That's actually pretty cool, because Gibson makes some great guitars.

Each system will have its own unique wireless controller, though all three of the next-gen consoles will have a variant of the Les Paul. The guitar for the Wii appears to have a complete Wiimote installed in it. No word on whether it is built-in, or if you simply insert your own. The PS2 variant will include a classic Kramer.
