New USB adapter may let you play Guitar Hero on your PS3

New USB adapter may let you play Guitar Hero on your PS3

When you upgrade to a new gaming console, it's hard to justify keeping the previous-generation model around. Unfortunately with games like Guitar Hero that require a special controller, you are forced into keeping it around. Thankfully Pelican has solved the issue for Guitar Heroes that have decided to upgrade to the PS3.

Pelican's new PS2 to USB adapter sports a special switch that will allow your Guitar Hero controller work with both Guitar Hero 1 and 2 on your PS3.

One of these can be picked up for $14.99. Be warned, there have been some users stating that it does not work properly with Guitar Hero, we haven't been able to test one of these to confirm how well it does work. Now if someone would just come along with a way to use your PS2 GH controller on the Xbox 360...

Guitar Hero ’80s edition rumored for June or July release

Guitar Hero ’80s edition rumored for June or July release

If you bought your Guitar Hero when it first came out, you're probably yearning for new tracks. When Guitar Hero II came out recently for the Xbox 360 we got a few new songs, but I know I'm ready for a new set of tracks.

GH3 is still months away, and who knows when they are going to release new downloadable content for the 360, they still have to get through re-releasing old tracks first. Luckily there is the promise of Guitar Hero '80s Edition on the horizon.

Two different Guitar Hero 360 controllers released, and whammy bar issues

Two different Guitar Hero 360 controllers released, and whammy bar issues

My love of the new Guitar Hero X-plorer controller for the Xbox 360 was short-lived, and it's only getting worse. While I originally thought that my whammy bar was unresponsive because it just needed to be broke in, reports are coming in that many users are having this problem. I didn't notice it as much with mine because I was barely using it anyway. Due to the positioning of the extra buttons I just kept bumping them and chinking.

Here's a shot of my X-plorer. Note the placement of the RJ-11 jack. If your controller looks like this, chances are you'll have whammy bar issues. Hit the jump for a pic of the other controller that was released.

Video of Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360

As promised in my earlier post, I have some video footage of my brother Eric and I rocking out to Guitar Hero II 360-style. I will say that my love affair with the new controller has come to a very short end. At first it felt awesome, but with my big hands, I tend to hit some of the extra buttons every time I try to use my whammy bar. Has anyone else had this issue?

Unboxing – Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360

I just got back from our local Walmart (we're not good enough for a Best Buy, or any other decent stores) where I grabbed my copy of Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360. There wasn't exactly a big line, it's a relatively small town, so it was expected. There were about 6 other people there waiting, but there were more than plenty to go around. Hit the jump for my first thoughts and some unboxing pics.

Guitar Heronoid rocks!

Guitar Heronoid rocks!

I'm a Guitar Hero addict. Granted, I still can't beat Jordan, but then again I've only met one person that can, so I guess it's not that bad. Perhaps one day this Guitar Heronoid will be able to master that horrendously difficult song.

A couple of guys set out with the task of creating a humanoid robot that can play Guitar Hero by processing the video from a PS2 in real-time. The project took them about 2 months to complete and a whopping $50. Not too shabby.
