There's little doubt now that the folks behind the scenes at the servers keeping up Grand Theft Auto Online are not having a great couple of weeks. At first it seemed that the rush of users aiming to play the online version of the open sandbox game were experiencing problems that'd be solved quickly - logins and disappearing vehicles amongst them. Now with a GTA$ Stimulus Package announced - cash for reparations for bad service - it would appear that another set of problems have arisen.

Grand Theft Auto Online updated to fix deleted cars and ugly characters

An update to Grand Theft Auto Online for both PS3 and Xbox 360 gamers should fix missing cars, mods that disappear, and an exploit which allowed the same vehicle to be sold multiple times, as developer Rockstar Games addresses the issues in the overwhelmed multiplayer title. The glitches were down to a cloud save failure, Rockstar Games said, while also pointing out that it had tweaked the algorithms in the character creator so that default "random" generations would be better looking. Meanwhile, there's also news for Xbox Live Games on Demand users.

Grand Theft Auto Online update fixes progress loss issue for PlayStation 3

Following the latest Grand Theft Auto Online update that Rockstar Games pushed out, another has followed, again for the PlayStation 3 with a promise that Xbox 360 owners will get it by tomorrow. This latest update fixes the problem gamers have had with progress loss, and brings with it some "technical fixes, tweaks and enhancements." Only part of the progress loss issue persists, and will be fixed in another update.

Grand Theft Auto Online update now available for PlayStation 3

As promised earlier today, an update for Grand Theft Auto Online for the PlayStation 3 is now available. With the update comes some big fixes in game stability, as well as nearly a dozen other fixes and changes that will hopefully correct the issues GTA Online players have been experiencing. The Xbox 360 update is still in the works, however, with Rockstar saying it is working with Microsoft on the matter.

As the Grand Theft Auto Online universe continues its less-than-perfect launch week, the folks at Rockstar Games have issued a note that suggests a full-on software update will be brought on as early as tomorrow. This update will bring about a host of fixes for the game for issues that have popped up over the past several days, these issues including log-in errors for both PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 right off the bat. And not the bat you see in the upper-right-hand corner of the title image you're seeing here.

Rockstar has disabled Grand Theft Auto Online currency purchases and massaged the PlayStation Network servers so as to bring the GTA5 multiplayer environment back online, but the cloud-based missions still struggle to hold up to the eager gamers. "For the time being and until we have been able to get everybody access to GTA Online and things are running smoothly, we have disabled the option of purchasable GTA$ cash packs" Rockstar said today, as it battles greater-than-expected demand for the online environment.
