Here in the US you can buy cool blue controllers for the PS3, but we are stuck with plain black color for our PS3s. Gamers over in Japan will get a cool Blue PS3 that matches those blue controllers we get there in the US starting on November 3.
Another next-gen PSP rumor, and this time a new mockup image. Sony are still remaining quiet on talk of a replacement to their gaming handheld, but 1UP has been talking to "sources directly involved with the new system" who lend further weight to the talk that UMD is to be replaced with flash storage, in this case 8GB or 16GB.
Sony have been demonstrating Gran Turismo 5 on a new FED display, with the game running at a massive 240fps. Four PS3 consoles working in partnership were required to reach that framerate on the 19-inch Nano-Spindt FED (Field Emissions Display) developed by Sony, intended to show how well the FED technology handles fast moving images without blurring.
While some countries, such as the US and UK, are getting ready for launch of the PS4 in November, gamers in Japan have to wait longer. Sony has officially announced the launch date the PS4 in Japan is February 22, 2014. The Japanese launch date was officially announced today at a press conference in Japan.
This week during Sonys Gamescom appearance it was announced that the PlayStation 4 would be formally released on the 15th of November inside the USA. Through Europe, the PlayStation 4 was announced to be available starting on the 29th of November, while the device would be available in a total of 32 Countries this holiday season. This follows up on suggestion from Sony that the device would be released later in the year, close to the holiday season in general.
Maserati has whipped the covers off of its latest concept, a 2+2 concept coupe dubbed the Alfieri that it teases may be "a door to the future" of the company's cars. The Italian company, still riding high from its well-received Super Bowl 2013 advert for the Ghibli, revealed the Alfieri at the Geneva Motor Show, and while there are no signs of a production date any time soon, Maserati is at pains to highlight the fact that the concept is fully functional.
Racing games are very popular today with the Forza franchise being one of the most popular series on the Xbox and Grand Turismo being incredibly popular on the PS3. Another slick driving franchise is coming to the PlayStation 4 called Driveclub.
This week was a big one for gamers with Sony unveiling the PlayStation 4 along with teasing some video games that will be coming to the system. Fans of driving/racing games and cool cars are excited about the video game Driveclub that looks poised to boot Forza and Gran Turismo from the top of the coolest driving game pile. Mercedes has announced that two of its new vehicles will be featured in that game.
Chevrolet has sold its first 2014 Corvette Stingray for a cool $1.1 million to Rick Hendrick, who owns a NASCAR team. The sale took place at the Barrett-Jackson car auction in Arizona shortly after the vehicle was unveiled at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show. Hendrick will receive the car this summer - complete with all the customization he wants - when it enters production later in the year.
Nissan and Sony kicked off the second season of GT Academy back in October. Nissan GT Academy North America is a TV series that starts with some the fastest virtual racers on the Sony game Gran Turismo. The season started with 16 of the top drivers and then whittled those down from a huge number of drivers who accepted the GT Academy challenge on the video game.
