The team behind the Google+ video chat environment "Hangouts" has updated the system this week to work with internet connection speeds of all varieties. To attach to those that normally wouldn't be able to keep up with a video chat interface (be it Hangouts, Skype, or otherwise), the Google developers working with Hangouts have revealed two new features: a Bandwidth Slider and "Audio-Only mode." This means Google+ is ready to do not just video chat, but phone calls as well - almost as if Google Voice has come to visit!

This week the folks in charge of social media surrounding the Google Project Glass hardware on order right this second have created a set of Hangouts for the betterment of the project - but it didn't turn out all that great this afternoon. The first set of Google Glass Explorers hangouts ended in mass confusion and hopeful users ending up finding out little, if anything, about Google Glass that they didn't already know. Google+ Hangouts presents bold threat to Skype

The social network known as Google+ has once again shown another tiny improvement set to make big waves, and it's got us all thinking that Skype may be on its way out alongside all over enterprise conferencing systems. Google+ Hangouts (the On Air version) now has a Full Screen button, this allowing you to turn your entire monitor into your conferencing station. While Skype and other conferencing systems have had similar functionality to this for a while now, Hangouts ability to use virtual whiteboards and screen sharing have the potential to put the competition out of business.

Google+ Hangouts add free conference calling

The first time we used the Hangouts feature on Google+, the group's social media network, just a few short weeks ago, the team here at SlashGear suddenly found our around-the-world group of misfit publishers in a very real room with video chat - now we're to understand that this service will be expanded with free phone call-ins. What this means is that if you've already started a Hangout and you know your friend is mobile, you can call them in. The great thing about this is that it works for any kind of phone, just so long as the person being called can talk on it.
